Today is the day of Dhanteras. This day marks the beginning of celebrations of festival of Diwali. Day after tomorrow, the festival of Diwali will be celebrated.

Dhanteras is celebrated on the thirteenth day of day of Krishna paksha of Kartik month in Hindu Calendar. Krishna Paksha (Dark side) is the fortnight of fading moon that eventually leads to Amavasya (night of new moon). Diwali will be celebrated on the daybof Amavasya that is day after tomorrow.

On the day of dhanteras, Lord Dhanvantri is worshipped who imparted the knowledge of Ayurveda for the betterment of mankind. Ayurveda is the science of traditional Indian medicine based on nature.

Generally by the day of Dhanteras, all have finished cleaning, whitewashing, decorating their houses for festival of Diwali.

Day of Dhanteras is considered very auspicious for making new purchases specially Gold silvar and new utensils for kitchen. Some people also purchase a broom on the event of dhanteras. It is believed to be a sign of good luck. So this day you will see markets overloaded with customers buying goods. All rich and poor whoever it may be, try to purchase anything whatever they can afford. This day is simply the celebration of wealth and prosperity.

On the evening of Dhanteras, one diya (lamp of clay) is lit in the evening near the main entrance door of the house. Tomorrow five diyaas will be lit and on the eve of Diwali, you will see diyas everywhere. People lit hundreds of diyas and decorate their houses with colorful lights.

Festival of Diwali is amazing, it is my most favorite in all the festivals celebrated all around the year. Waiting and preparing for the final day of Diwali 😊

Thank you for your time and support😊
Prayers for all!!

Regards
