Rapai is one of the traditional musical instruments of Aceh, Indonesia. Aceh is a province located in the western part of Indonesia. The country of Indonesia which has 34 provinces spread across all parts of Indonesia. What is unique about Indonesia is that each region has different customs and also has several tribes in several regions in Indonesia.
It seems that the province of Aceh, Aceh which is located in the westernmost part of Indonesia, Aceh also chose a population of around 5 million people. And in Aceh itself is divided into several districts. And each district has a different tradition of customs even in one province.
Well, here I will discuss about traditional musical instruments that are very famous in Aceh and even abroad. This musical instrument is called Rapa'i. A musical instrument made of old wood and covered with goat skin. It looks like a drum.
This musical instrument is played in groups, Rapai musical instruments are now very popular in various circles. In addition, in the show Rapai is often also held debus.
The schedule for the Rapa'i show is at night, and usually the Rapai show is held before the rice planting season in the fields. According to the history I read, the purpose of this Rapai festival is to reunite the community. At this festival will be very crowded spectators who witnessed it. As seen in this picture.
