The cold air hit us as soon as we arrived at the outskirts of Lake Lut Tawar, Takengon, Central Aceh, Indonesia. Takengon City does have cooler air temperatures than other areas in Aceh Province.

The temperature in Takengon during the day is around 21 degrees Celsius with an air humidity of 67 percent. But in the morning, the temperature can reach 16 degrees. Compare this with Lhokseumawe City which reaches 32 degrees.

Dozens of colorful tents like rainbows stand on the shores of Lake Lut Tawar. There are many tourist destinations in the Cold City of Takengon, one of which is Lake Lut Tawar which has always been the choice of many local and foreign tourists. Foreign tourists are also often seen there, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been rarely seen.

Lake Lut Tawar has an area of about 5,472 hectares with a length of 17 km and a width of 3,219 km. Its water volume is approximately 2,537,483,884 m³ (2.5 trillion liters). There are 25 Krueng (driver) Peusangan that empty into Lake Laut Tawar with a total water discharge of approximately 10,043 liters per second.

The average depth of the lake is 35 meters and from the edge of the lake 8.9 meters. About 100 meters from the edge of the lake has a depth of 19.27 meters. But 620 meters from the edge of the lake is getting deeper, reaching 51.13 meters. The higher the brightness, the clearer the water. This lake has a unique fish, namely the depik fish which can only be found in Lake Lut Tawar.

Camping on the outskirts of Lake Lut Tawar is a fun option on a weekend or holiday. No need to bother bringing tent equipment, just rent it there at an affordable price. One tent can accommodate up to four people. So, one family is limited to only needing two tents to be more comfortable.

In the middle of the night, visitors can light a bonfire to get warm. In the distance, you can see the glittering city of Takengon like thousands of dancing fireflies. While the surface of Lake Lut Tawar looks like a carpet of gold overwritten by the moonlight.

I visited there with friends and family. Unfortunately, with nearly a hundred tents standing on-site, only two simple toilets are available. As a result, in the morning I have to queue for a long time and for me it's not at all comfortable. Finally, the children chose to sleep in an inn not far from the shores of Lake Lut Tawar. Lodging is just what we need to shower and defecate. To sleep more pleasantly on the shores of Lake Lut Tawar.[]
