Trek to Har Ki Dun

A trek to the 'Valley of Lord Shiva' which is the literal meaning of the name 'Har ki dun,' is located in the Garhwal ranges of Himalayas, located in Uttarakhand.

It was one of the most scenic and the most beautiful treks that I have ever done. During the trek I got to see wheat farms at an altitude of 3,000 meters. Vast goat-grazing fields stretch out in the pristine valley, surrounded by high mountains. Beautiful waterfalls, gurgling with fresh melting ice water, accompany the tall mountains.

My journey started from Delhi but I'll just share my experience starting from Sankri, the base for two famous treks, Kedarkantha and Har-ki-Dun.

For Har-ki-Dun I first had to reach Taluka., where motorable road ends and the trek starts. Har-ki-Dun falls under the Govind National Park, full of beautiful birds and amazing animals.

In total, Har-ki-Dun is a 40 Kms trek so I divided my journey into two days. The first day trek was almost 22kms and I reached the small but stunning village of Seema. My group and I camped there for the night.

We explored places near our camp.

Next day, post an early morning breakfast, I started from Seema towards Har-ki-dun. I crossed a well built bridge and climbed a steep mountain. Here's an image after I successfully climbed it.
You can see the small village and that bridge.

After reaching the camping site my fellow campers and I set everything up and prepared for the night with the sound of river on one side.

The next day, I woke up early and climbed the nearby hill to get a better view of the Valley and the rising dawn. Here are some pics from my little climb.
