I have received gifts, some I didn't recognize as gifts until I grew older and understood their significance. Perhaps, I expected the giver to explicitly say "gift" before realizing their intention.
The first gift I received was during my childhood. A lovely lady gifted me different sets of dresses. While these dresses were secondhand, they held immense value for me. The fact that I still remember that act of kindness speaks to the significance of the gift.
Addressing why it was special, I would say it was because I lacked dresses at that age, and it was her way of showing kindness. This act of generosity left a lasting impression on me. I'm not usually very fortunate with gifts, or perhaps, I'm still waiting for that extraordinary gift that will leave others envious. Hahaha.
Another type of gift I received this year was an unexpected monetary surprise. My sister called and requested my bank details. I anticipated nothing significant, but I was pleased at the thought of receiving something to sustain me for a while. To my surprise, I received an alert of 50,000 naira, and my joy knew no bounds. This gift was special to that month because it came precisely when I needed money the most.
Lastly, last year, a deacon who is now a Father gifted me a rosary. I was overjoyed because it was a gift I cherish deeply. It has become my spiritual weapon, accompanying me everywhere I go and helping me stay spiritually alert as I frequently say my rosary.
