Raising broilers isn't what you can call an easy task because there are some tasks and steps need to be followed as they are growing. In poultry farming, there are common to types of virus that usually affect birds from their day old to 6weeks which are infectious bursal disease virus and newcastle virus. Before they reach 6weeks, they need to be vaccinated on 4 good occasions. They will collect the first vaccine between their 4th day to 7th day against Infectious bursal disease virus.
WHAT IS GUMBORO VACCINE?
Gumboro vaccine is commonly used against an impending infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). It a dangerous disease that affect bird anus which affect their respiratory organs. Once a bird contact it, it very rare for such bird to get cured from the disease. So its better they get vaccinated against the disease before hand.
In my own case, my broilers clocked 5days today so decided to get them vaccinated. But there is a step I put in place so these broilers will get vaccinated. I made them famished of water for good 12hours so that they will be severely thirsty and then I will give them the next water that have the vaccine inside them.
THESE ARE THE PROCESSES OF PREPARING THE VACCINE
The gumboro is in a small sealed bottle.
Then after I have loosed the cover and then placed in the 5liters of clean water in small bucket. Then I distributed the water their drinkers.
After the process, they are ready to get vaccinated
I offered it to them. You can see them, I mean all of them struggling to drink the water because they have been thirsty of water for like 13hours or so. So after this vaccination, they will be vaccinated against Latosa in next 10 to 14days. When it is time I am going to discuss what Newcastle disease means and the use of Lasota vaccine before hand against the virus.
NOTED:- This is how the vaccine works. After they have been vaccinated the vaccine goes straight to wait underneath their anus. So incase virus shows up, the gumboro vaccine is already there to fight the virus.
