Share Your Favourite Festival

With Halloween just around the corner, everyone is prepping their to be their favourite superhero, goblin or some mystical creature. Some enjoy this festival because they get to play pretend. In Malaysia, we don't celebrate Halloween because it is a Muslim country but..... we do celebrate Christmas and it is my favourite time of the year!

Not sure how Christmas would be this year because of the covid lockdown but nevertheless, I love the Christmas mood and it's one of the best ways to end the New Year! I would like to know what is your favourite festival/holiday season?? It can be a festival that is only accustom to your culture like Chinese New Year for example... Share with us why you love that festival and maybe even some of your photos of the festival!

Festival Week / Christmas memories!!! by @purrix

For me, Christmas is one of the most beautiful holidays there is, because it is a time of unity, of family, of love, of joy, of sharing all together. They are even moments to forget quarrels, misunderstandings and distancing.

As the date of Christmas approaches, we start the preparations: the dinner menu, the place where we are going to meet... And the inevitable question always arrives: "How many will we be that night?" Irremediably they will appear, the "empty chairs", the people who are not there, those who are far away, those who life took another way, those who chose not to be there, those who made enemies, those who will never call again, those who went to heaven...

Festival Week/Feast of Saint Peter the Apostle (Venezuela) by @carolinacardoza

The story goes that in colonial times, when slavery still existed, there was a slave called Maria Ignacia who had her baby Rosa Ignacia very sick, and the healers or any remedy to lower the fever that the girl had, she made a request to St. Peter to improve that disease, and in return she made a promise that if Rosa Ignacia was cured she would dance every June 29 (St. Peter's Day) throughout the streets of the town. I think it was like a way of announcing the miracle that had happened so that people would believe that if there really is a good God and she wanted everyone to know it. So it happened, the girl recovered and Maria Ignacia from there began to fulfill her promise. Little by little other friends of hers joined the celebration and sang songs in honor of the saint. With time Maria Ignacia became ill so her husband decided to continue the tradition and put on a woman's dress and took the girl in his arms and along with his friends went through the streets of the town singing and dancing. Since then the tradition remained the same, a man dressed as a woman with a rag doll in his arms that symbolizes the girl Rosa Ignacia, goes out every June 29th to continue with the tradition of faith that is no longer only of a black slave but of a whole town and much more...

My favorite Holiday of all is Christmas, because of this beautiful festivity I keep my best memories of my childhood. That indescribable feeling when waiting for the Christmas Eve gift that Santa Claus or Baby Jesus would bring me. Yes, because here in Venezuela also baby Jesus can bring us the gifts. I remember that when I was a child the most requested gift was the Barbie dolls and I loved them...
