My search for sweet places to have a coffee and breakfast was definitely over when we visited Cafe Roux last week! (And I had to take my husbands car to be washed so I went AGAIN ALONE!!) I just needed to try the French Toast and gosh it was good!!!

First of all, Cafe Roux is at the Noordhoek Farm Village on the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. I mentioned the farm village in my previous Savvy Write up so go check it out. There are sweet African curios often displayed on the outdoor green between all the restaurants and shops. This day we spotted a guy selling sweet wood carved cars and trucks that were very well made.

We first visited Cafe Roux with my folks for breakfast. And I’m telling you it was a great idea! We really need to take advantage of these outdoor restaurant venues during the Summer months because soon enough we will be forced to dine indoors during our cold wet winter.

I have no idea what Taylor was saying 😂
The food options are great and pretty kid friendly (although my kids are now both teens - I do have 1 fussy eater).

I LOVED the health bowl with fresh seasonal fruit, plain creamy yoghurt and a handful of granola. My hubby always goes for eggs and jumped at the eggs benedict while Taylor shared a pizza with my dad and also had the Nutella Pancake.

What makes Cafe Roux unique is their huge live music following. They are well know for hosting great local and some foreign live bands - from full band to a guy and guitar. The weekly lineup is available on their website or on the notice boards near the door. Some are ticketed events while other are free and open to the general public. We will have to make a turn one evening to see who’s in action.

Cafe Roux are a licensed establishment and enjoy their reputation as Vinologists. Don’t take my word for it as I don’t really like the taste of any alcohol and am a complete lightweight. But for those interested in that sort of thing there may be something that tips your fancy.

As for me I’m probably coming back for cheese cake next time I need my car washed (always a good excuse) because when there only a couple slices left it means it must be GOOOOOD! ( I had a BAD baked cheese cake the other night but that’s a subject for another post)

As always, if you’re ever in the Cape, then head over to Cafe Roux at the Noordhoek Farm Village and enjoy some local culture. I can’t wait to show you the organic market and the Food Barn Bakery - it all just looks too delicious for words. Watch this space!

From us in Kommetjie - have a great day...
