11- My favorite childhood book

My favorite book, is one that not many people know... because it was made for me in my pre-school, it was a beautiful graduation gift from ¨I know how to read¨ by my nursery school teachers and since then, every time I read it I am filled with joy.

As it is very short i will tell you the story and show you the beautiful drawings of it.

11- Mi libro de infancia favorito

Mi libro favorito, es uno que no mucha gente conoce... porque fué hecho para mi en mi colegio preescolar, fué un hermoso regalo de graduación de Ya se leer de parte de mis profesoras del maternal y desde entonces, cada vez que lo leo me lleno de alegría.

Como es super corto te voy a contar la historia y a enseñarte los hermosos dibujos del mismo.

The book is called ¨The School is Fun¨ July 2003, Casa del Niño Montessori, Spanish version by Paul Andrew, Illustrated by Karen McDonald

El libro se llama ¨El Colegio es Divertido¨ julio 2003, Casa del Niño Montessori, Versión en español de Paul Andrew, Ilustrado por Karen McDonald.

¨Hoy is going to be a very fun day. Yes, because today i am going to go to my school Casa del Niño Montessori! ¨ thought 5-year-old Amelia. Very early in the morning, she got dressed quickly and ate her breakfast.

¨No you hurry so much Amelia¨, Liliana, Ines and Diana told her smiling.

When Amelia arrived at the school, she hurried up the steps to get to the other children.

¨Hoy va a ser un día muy divertido. ¡Sí, porque hoy voy a ir a mi colegio Casa del Niño Montessori!¨ pensó Amelia de 5 años. Muy temprano en la mañana, ella se vistió rápidamente y tomó su desayuno.

¨No te apures tanto Amelia¨, le dijeron Liliana, Inés y Diana sonriéndose.

Cuando Amelia llegó al colegio, subió velozmente las escaletas para llegar a donde estaban los demás niños.

Amelia ran to her locker and as she opened it she heard a cracking sound inside.

¨Is there something inside my locker? What could it be? ¨, she wondered.

Just then, Ana walked past her and told her: ¨You better hurry up and go to class¨.

Amelia closed her locker and decided to investigate the noise later.

Amelia corrió hacia su casillero y mientras lo abría oyó un crujido en el interior.

¨¿Habrá algo dentro de mi casillero? ¿Qué podrá ser?¨, se preguntó.

Justo en ese momento, Ana pasó cerca de ella y le dijo: ¨Será mejor que t apresures en ir a la clase¨.

Amelia cerró su casillero y decidió investigar el ruido más tarde.

Amelia was curious about what was causing that strange noise, but she went to the classroom with the other children. It was reading time, which was one of Amelia's favorite classes. Ana came in, opened her big book and said: ¨Today we will study the raccoons and at the end of the day i will give you a very nice surprise especial¨.

Amelia forgot about the noise and began to think about what that surprise might be.

Amelia sentía curiosidad por saber que causaba ese extraño ruido, pero fue al aula junto a los demás niños. Era la hora de lectura, que era una de las clases favoritas de Amelia. Entró Ana, abrió su gran libro y dijo: ¨Hoy estudiaremos a los mapaches y al final del día les daré una sorpresa muy especial¨.

Amelia se olvidó del ruido y empezó a pensar en qué podía consistir dicha sorpresa.

After learning all about the raccoons, the children went to the painting room.

¨Me would like everyone to draw a raccoon¨, Ana said.

Amelia worked very hard on her drawing. When she finished, all the children complimented her drawing.

¨Amelia, that's a very nice drawing, you are a very talented person for art¨, Ana said.

Amelia couldn't wait to take her drawing home and show it to Lilliana, Ines and Diana.

Después de aprender todo sobre los mapaches, los niños fueron al aula de pintura.

¨Me gustaría que todos dibujen un mapache¨, dijo Ana.

Amelia trabajó muy duro en su dibujo. Cuando terminó, todos los niños halagaron su dibujo.

¨Amelia, ése es un dibujo muy bonito, Eres una persona con mucho talento para el arte¨, dijo Ana.

Amelia no podía esperar más para llevar su dibujo a casa y enseñárselo a Lilliana, Inés y Diana.

During lunch, Amelia sat at the table with her best friends. Everyone shared their summer adventures.

Suddenly, Amelia felt a bump on her leg and the table began to shake slightly. A small jug of milk spilled on the table.

¨There must be someone under the table making fun of us¨, Amelia said. But when she looked under the table, she didn't see anyone.

Durante el almuerzo, Amelia se sentó a la mesa con sus mejores amigos. Todos compartieron sus aventuras de verano.

De repente, Amelia sintió un golpe en la pierna y la mesa empezó a temblar levemente. Una jarrita de leche se derramó sobre la mesa.

¨Debe de haber alguien debajo de la mesa tomándonos el pelo¨, dijo Amelia. Pero cuando ella miró debajo de la mesa, no vio a nadie.

This is a beautiful break in the book, where the kids are at recess playing and enjoying themselves.

Este es un hermoso descanso en el libro, donde los chicos están en el recreo jugando y disfrutando.

¨Many strange things are happening today¨, thought Amelia. At that moment the bell rang. The music class was about to begin. There were many musical instruments to choose from. She liked tambourines more than any other instrument. Then Ana taught them a song about raccoons.

As Amelia played her tambourine, she couldn't stop thinking about the surprise Ana had promised them.

¨Hoy están sucediendo muchas cosas extrañas¨, pensó Amelia. En ese momento sonó la campana. La clase de músico estaba por empezar. Había muchos instrumentos musicales para elegir. A ella le gustaban las panderetas más que ningún instrumento. Entonces Ana les enseñó una canción sobre los mapaches.

Mientras Amelia tocaba su pandereta, no podía dejar de pensar en la sorpresa que Ana les había prometido.

Soon science class was about to begin and Amelia could not find her lab glasses anywhere.

¨Where can they be? , she wondered as she looked under the table.

At the end of the day, Ana said, ¨Kids, pay close attention. I'm going to reveal the surprise.¨ Then Ana brought in a very large box that was covered with a cloth.

Pronto iba a comenzar la clase de ciencia y Amelia no podía encontrar sus lentes de laboratorio por ninguna parte.

¨¿Dónde pueden estar?¨, se preguntó mientras miraba debajo de la mesa.

Al final del día, Ana les dijo: ¨Niños, presten mucha atención. Les voy a revelar la sorpresa.¨ Entonces Ana trajo una caja muy grande que estaba cubierta con una tela.

When Ana took out the cloth, the box was empty!

¨The Raccoon has disappeared and must be running all over school¨, exclaimed Ana. Then Amelia remembered the noise from her locker and also what had happened in the dining room. ¨ I'll be right back! ¨, Amelia said as she quickly walked away from the classroom.

¡Cuando Ana sacó la tela, la caja estaba vacía!

¨El mapache ha desaparecido y debe estar corriendo por todo el colegio¨, exclamó Ana. Entonces Amelia recordó el ruido de su casillero y también lo que había pasado en el comedor. ¨¡Ya regreso!¨, dijo Amelia mientras se alejaba rápidamente del aula.

Amelia went straight to the dining room, came to the door and heard some strange sounds. Even though it was dark, Amelia was not afraid. She opened the door and found the baby raccoon. The little animal was wearing his lab glasses and was also savoring one of the leftover sandwiches from his lunch hour.

Amelia se dirigió directamente al comedor, se acercó a la puerta y oyó algunos sonidos extraños. Aun cuando estaba oscuro, Amelia no tenía miedo. Abrió la puerta y encontró al mapache bebé. El pequeño animalito traía puesto sus lentes de laboratorio y además estaba saboreando uno de los sándwiches que había sobrado de la hora del almuerzo.

¨Look what i found!¨ Amelia said with a big smile as she brought her new friend back to the classroom.

¨Amelia, you found the baby raccoon!¨, exclaimed Ana. The other children gave a big hurray.

¨Really, this has been the best day of school i have ever had¨, said Amelia. ¨

This book may be simple and short, but it has immense sentimental value.

¨¡Miren lo que encontré!¨ dijo Amelia con una gran sonrisa mientras traía de vuelta al aula a su nuevo amigo.

¨¡Amelia, encontraste al mapache bebé!¨, exclamó Ana. Los demás niños dieron un hurra muy fuerte.

¨Realmente, éste ha sido el mejor día de colegio que haya tenido nunca¨, dijo Amelia. ¨

Este libro puede que sea sencillo y corto, pero tiene un valor sentimental inmenso.
