Raw Mindfulness

Raw Mindfullness.jpg

My latest acrylic painting, Raw Mindfulness, (see the image above) is an invitation to live mindfully. It`s a piece of my mind transferred through paint into a 40" x 30" painting on canvas. Raw thoughts on canvas. A perspective in black and white of the human mind.

As a dreamer who tries to cultivates joy in time of darkness, I look at it as an invitation to nurture self-empowerment, grow connections and live a meaningful live.

A reminder that life can take a different turn anytime and we need to find new ways to ground ourselves, especially now during the quarantine when most of people experience high anxiety and uncertainty.

"Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones."
— Thich Nhật Hanh

We face a grim reality these days due to the spread of this virus. There is tremendous suffering all over the world. Daily the death toll is rising and the numbers of the victims are higher by the hour.

Within days or weeks, these numbers have names. They start having faces. Faces of people we know, work with or even love. People we will lose and miss.

Given the latest prognosis, it seems that everyone will be touched by it and have someone to mourn and need a shoulder to cry on.

On grim days like these, it is important not to freak out, not to let ourselves be paralysed by fear. We need to practice mindfulness in everything that we do. We need to do our best to help and find peace inside ourselves. Worrying over the things that are beyond our control accomplishes nothing.

When we stop fearing everything and cease feeling powerless, we understand that fear can not control us.
