Hi,dear Hivers
One of the things Venezuelans are known for around the world is their cuisine and one of the most famous Venezuelan food is the arepa. Arepas are made with corn flour and cooked on stove or oven. They are usually round, the size of the palm of your hand (although my paternal grandmother used to prepare some the size of the plate) and usually people eat it hamburger style, filling them with anything imaginable, from cheese to any meat, fish, beans, or salad.
Even though there are many brands of corn flour, the most popular one and the one that is credited with the invention of the product is PAN from Empresas Polar. This package has become emblematic of what it is to be a Venezuelan. For those of us living away from home, to see a package like this produces all kinds of emotions.

There have been many renditions of this logo/image, from ad campaigns to cartoons.

This is is by famous venezuelan cartoonist, Pinilla.
My cartoon:
At the beginning I thought of drawing a black woman
But then I changed the approach, since there has been so much controversy with images of black people in products. So, I settled for this rather race-neutral image.
I wanted her to look younger and sexy. A refreshing look for an old trademark that is a symbol of a culture.
