Greetings, everyone
As I promised yesterday, and taking advantage of the muses, here I share a pencil drawing portrait I made of one of my nieces, Santiago's sister, April Samantha.
Process
This potrait posed a challenge. Santiago had very expressive eyes, Samantha has an incredibly expressibe smile with prominent cheeks. It was very hard to capture that smile. I am not sure I did it. I tried to be more meticulous with the measures this time. That allowed me to make someadjustments from the first draft.
I had a couple of pictures of my niece to look at as models and tried to combine elements form both. That was a bit complicated.
I had the shape of the torso and clothes first and left the hard part for later.
I do not know how many times I erased and redid the mouth. I had to settle at some point for this version. Probably I was looking at the wrong detail and the problem was not exactly in the mouth.
Anyway, I had fun working on this portrait. I sent it to my brother and he liked it. The children loved them. Actually, he is now bragging about it with his friends and now wants portraits of his wife and himself. We'll see.
