Un día especial... [ESP] // An special day... [ENG]

The day before yesterday had been an unhappy day for my wife. My daughter had bought her a ticket to the USA to visit her. It was a Christmas surprise and I could not accompany her because my passport had expired. Carelessness. Why was it bad? Because of the new travel regulations, my wife had taken the PCR test to clear the virus that plagues mankind. And just half an hour before departure, she got the results: Positive. She hasn't felt bad, so we figure it's asymptomatic, for both of us.

In the afternoon of that day, I reminded him that I had noticed signs that dictated the postponement of the trip. She replied that I should hold my tongue, in view of what finally ended up happening. We laughed about it, I mean, the only motivation for the trip for her was to hug our children. So we didn't make a big deal out of it. It hurt, of course, but only at the time. We are of that rare group of people who don't get anxious about things we can't control.

Yesterday started like any other day, but with one big difference: it was my wife's birthday. I don't write much about her here at #Hive. But believe me when I tell you that she is a great woman. I admire her a lot. And I think the feeling is mutual. We had our morning coffee and I hurried my pace because I was about to start my round of post curation. A couple of minutes after I sat down, I heard a commotion in front of the house.

I quickly stood up from my chair and walked out with my cell phone in hand. I knew that such a buzz meant something good. And it did. I don't think the preceding picture does justice to the spectacle we saw. I've seen many rainbows in my life, but I can only remember one as beautiful as yesterday. The vivid colors and the angle of the morning sun's rays made the morning sunset an unearthly yellow. I mean, over our head clouds, but the ground and pavement were yellow... Amazing!

Everyone went back to their own thing after that. However, I didn't waste the moment to tell my wife that providence wanted to make up for her bad day with the show we had just seen. She went out for a doctor's appointment and I went to work, but I had invited her to lunch. That is, it was a practice we had before things got ugly here in Venezuela; however, I thought it was time to do something special to celebrate her birthday. This time we would have sushi for lunch.

We took all the biosecurity measures available and when he returned from his morning perambulation we went to the restaurant. When we arrived, they took our temperature, gave us hand gel and arranged us so that we were separated from the other tables by at least nine feet. It's amazing how the pandemic has changed everything. We ordered our plates of salad, a couple of glasses of refreshing green tea and a small boat of assorted roles. We had been to this restaurant before and their portions were small, so we were surprised when they brought very generous portions.

We couldn't handle it all, so we paid and returned home. A friend of hers sent a delivery from the USA with an exquisite cake. My sister-in-law had made another cake and another sister-in-law a quesillo (a kind of Creole flan). Around six o'clock in the evening, we sang the traditional birthday song and had desserts. It was a magical day. Very charming. Just like her. I feel very fortunate to have gotten her in my way. It was a special day.
