Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

“What are you thankful for?” A lot of this going on around here; especially at this time of year. Most people know intuitively, at least to some degree, that the privileges and good things they enjoy in life are given to them and that they are meant to be grateful for what they have. I have friends from all walks of the divinity circle. Some thank God, some thank their good fortune, their lucky stars, good karma, or, some other vague force successfully working here in this universe.

So who is it that is being thanked? Not only am I not sure, but I don't think it really matters. The truth is, the act of carrying Thanksgiving in your heart is good for you. All year long.

I'm pretty sure you don't even have to be in good standing with the Catholic Church to say "Count your blessings." So much has linked thankfulness to better sleep, health, and overall happiness. Oh, yes. Being thankful is quite beneficial, if not a tad therapeutic.
Pretty Christmas balls. I am pretty sure I can be thankful for them. They make me smile. Frequently, I might add.

The days leading up to Thanksgiving are often reflective of days gone by, different places, and a mix of the old and new in my life. Some days, I don't even know I have it so good. Sometimes, we have to just stop and marvel at our many hidden blessings to be truly thankful. May your tomorrow and days that follow be filled with the warmth of the season.

I am thankful for a wonderful family, beautiful friends, and everyday, simple, thoughtful gestures. I am thankful for all the love that has been sent my way; the happiness that has filled my life and the joy in my heart. May you all have a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy, give thanks to others, and have a great, great day.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 As always, there were flowers. @alwaysaflower... And never forget, kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"
