The Continuous Book of Stories

The title of this post actually is the name of a file on my computer where all my ideas for "things to write" end up.

Chances are that most of the notes, outlines and ideas stored there will never see the light of day... but while wandering through the possibilities earlier this evening, it did occur to me that our lives could easily be summarized as a "Continuous Book of Stories."

I suppose we all have our own and unique angles on life... what resonates with one person is meaningless gobbledygook to another.

My own favorite genre has always been "personal stories that make you pause and wonder about people, life and the Universe."

Speaking of Stories...

My better half (aka "Mrs. Denmarkguy"), who goes by @cosmictriage around here has picked up the pen — or at least the keyboard — again, returning to Hive from the ranks of the many who went more of less silent at one point or another in the history of Steem.

I'm biased, of course, but you ought to give her a read and a follow. At one point — back in the "early days" of the Blogosphere — she had a blog that was on CNN's "top 10 blogs to watch."

Of course, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. But we could use more top shelf content creators in our community.

Speaking of Stories, Part II

I've been pretty absent from these pages for a few weeks. Aside from the personal drah-mah we've been experiencing, I've been doing an editing gig for a friend who did manage to write her book.

Unfortunately, it's pro-bono work. Well, not exactly; it's work I'm doing in exchange for an old debt getting settled.

It always fascinates me how people hand off manuscripts with assertions that they are press ready and yet I wind up doing 20-30 edits per page. Could, of course, be that I am just too picky... but I feel that the job of a good editor is to make the author look as good as possible. Which includes "minor" details like looking up the people you are referring to and making sure their names are spelled correctly.

Pass the HPUD...

I was going to do a "mini #HPUD" today, but decided to send the liquid Hive along to @cosmictriage instead to boost her modest balance.

Even though it's "in the family," I think it's part of the spirit of community to help others get solid ground under their feet here.

And that's about it, for now... as always, thanks for reading, and till the next time!
