Orchid Update - Another One Blooms!

We Have Another Orchid Blooming!!! ..

My wife and I returned home from a short little vacation/trip, to find another one of our Orchids poised and ready to bloom. I actually knew it would be soon, as the closest bud to the stem was beginning to swell nicely, even before we left home. Like I have mentioned in several of the posts preceding this one, I couldn't remember what color the flower would be. It would be a surprise!

This was what the buds looked like on April 7th or approximately two weeks ago.

This is a nice photo, because you can also see the branching of the bloom stem. Each branch will or should also produce 8 to 10 flowers. It will be really cool, because they will open at different times. I would expect that this Orchid should remain in bloom for most of the summer and maybe even leading into the fall. Ummmm... I could be wrong though. I've been known to be wrong a few times in my life.. lol.

This next photo.. was taken shortly after we returned home. The first flower bud was just beginning to open up. It was sort of facing downward, and I am glad that it eventually did turn up to the sun. I also see a brown dead leaf that needs to come off. I'll get around to that sooner or later. hehe.

It's starting to open! It's starting to open!!! Okay.. I have to curb my enthusiasm. I can't help that I am an Orchaholic.. hehe.

I took this photo this morning. She's all perked up and open fully. I am really loving this color and DID NOT remember it being this beautiful. I rather like these smaller than normal (whatever I am thinking normal is) flowers. They are sort of dainty as compared to my other plants.

I tried to take a photo with my hand in it to give you some sort of reference as to the size.

I am Loving.. That I have forgotten what colors and how pretty these flowers were when they bloomed before. It adds a little excitement to the hobby.. if you know what I mean.

That's It For This Orchid Update..

I'm looking forward to when the entire bloom cluster is open and filling our room with brightness and warmth. Maybe in another three weeks or so. I'm in no rush. It's worth the wait!

Just Another Day In Orchidville_012837464637.png

“The magic of purpose and of love in its purest form. Not televison love, with its glare and hollow and sequined glint; not sex and allure, all high shoes and high drama, everything both too small and in too much excess, but just love. Love like rain, like the smell of a tangerine, like a surprise found in your pocket.”
― Deb Caletti, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart

Or the 'Surprise' could be the reveling of an Orchid flower at just the most precise and natural of times. (smile smile)

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
