La mañana de este domingo es particularmente movida dentro de la comunidad. Bajo un sol radiante, y un impecable cielo azul de fondo, adornado solo con algunas nubes blancas que parecen algodón; las personas caminan por las aceras en dirección a la iglesia ubicada en la plaza central del pequeño pueblo. Las familias de feligreses este domingo darán inicio a los preparativos para la celebración de las fiestas del santo patrón que da nombre al asentamiento campesino.
La familia Mitchell es una de las más devotas, por eso Natasha, una mujer de 40 años de edad, a pesar de ya haber cumplido los 9 meses de embarazo y estar próxima a dar a luz, no se apartó nunca de las actividades organizativas de las fiestas. Su esposo Jeff, es un veterano de guerra que lucha por sobrevivir a sus propios demonios, constantemente sufre ataques de pánico abrumado por sus recuerdos de combate, cosa que lo ha sumergido dentro de un cuadro depresivo muy fuerte, y una adicción incontrolable por el alcohol, siendo despreciado por la comunidad, y etiquetado como el borracho del pueblo.
Se podría decir que la iglesia se encuentra a casa llena. El párroco del pueblo comienza la misa del domingo, agradeciendo a todos los presentes por su extensa colaboración. La pequeña iglesia de madera se encuentra tan repleta de gente, que no existe un solo banco vacío para sentarse, las personas están aglomeradas de pie en los pasillos, el aire se torna poco a poco denso y caluroso, las pequeñas ventanas superiores son insuficientes para la circulación del aire, el dióxido de carbono comienza a acumularse en la parte superior del techo de tejas a dos aguas, impulsado además por los mechurrios de fuego que iluminan perennemente la estatua del santo, a modo de grandes candelabros.

Al parecer, la única persona que tiene la astucia necesaria para actuar frente a una situación tan atroz es el Sargento Jeff. Este valeroso hombre sin dudar ni por un momento, coloca a su esposa embarazada en una esquina donde se juntan dos paredes, y la sienta lo más bajo posible para evitar las llamas del techo. Jeff se coloca sobre Natasha como una especie de muro protector humano, recibiendo sobre su cuerpo todo el calor de las llamas, y los golpes de la muchedumbre que intentaba abrirse paso hacia la salida.

The only person who has the cunning to act in such a dire situation is Sergeant Jeff. This brave man without a moment's hesitation places his pregnant wife in a corner where two walls meet and sits her as low as possible to avoid the flames from the ceiling. Jeff stands over Natasha like a kind of human protective wall, receiving all the heat of the flames on his body, and the blows of the crowd trying to make their way to the exit.
El departamento de bomberos llega rápidamente al lugar. Uno de los bomberos hace el sondeo del edificio, es en ese momento, cuando descubre en una esquina lo que parecen ser los restos de un hombre muy quemado, pero al alumbrarlo con la linterna, se da cuenta de que aún respira, rápidamente pide la ayuda de los paramédicos, debajo de él, se encuentra su esposa embarazada sofocada por el humo y totalmente inconsciente.
Los bomberos se dan cuenta rápidamente del acto heroico que este hombre realizó para proteger a su esposa, al recibir en su cuerpo todas las llamas del incendio. Ya en el hospital los doctores alertan de la gravedad en que se encuentran ambos padres, la mujer está muy mal por la cantidad de humo que se acumulo en sus pulmones. Una operación de emergencia se hace necesaria para intentar salvarlas, mientras la madre se debate entre la vida y la muerte.
La niña nació sin complicaciones, sus signos vitales son estables. Pero sus padres continúan en condición crítica. Los doctores informan a los bomberos y vecinos que se encontraban en la sala de espera sobre la dramática situación. Ellos se organizan y hacen un corredor de honor para rendir tributo al Sargento Jeff en los pasillos del hospital, mientras su cuerpo quemado es trasladado a una habitación para colocarlo junto a su esposa.
Una enfermera con lágrimas en los ojos, trae a la bebe y la coloca con cuidado en los brazos de la madre aún dormida. El llanto de la pequeña niña hace que el Sargento Jeff abra los ojos, consternado por la situación, desliza su mano sobre la camilla y aprieta con fuerza la mano de su esposa Natasha. Esa acción de amor y vida, al parecer fue el detonante que ocasionó el milagro que despertó a la madre del coma, por esta razón la niña fue bautizada con los nombres de Milagros Esperanza.

An emergency operation is necessary to try to save them, while the mother is torn between life and death.
The girl was born without complications, her vital signs are stable. But his parents remain in critical condition. The doctors inform the firefighters and neighbors who were in the waiting room about the dramatic situation. They get organized and make a hall of honor to pay tribute to Sergeant Jeff in the halls of the hospital, while his burned body is moved to a room to be placed next to his wife.
A nurse with tears in her eyes brings the baby and carefully places her in the arms of the still sleeping mother. The crying of the little girl makes Sergeant Jeff open his eyes, dismayed by the situation, slide his hand on the stretcher, and tightly squeeze the hand of his wife Natasha. That action of love and life was the trigger that caused the miracle that woke up the mother from the coma, for this reason, the girl was baptized with the name of Miracles Hope.
