That morning America, Yre's daughter was doing her daily chores at home, tidying up, cleaning, picking up everything that had been lying on the floor for days and because of her multiple occupations she has not had enough time each day to do it.

What happens with America is that she takes care of her mother, an elderly lady, and must be aware of what she does: when she gets out of bed, goes to the bathroom, her food, medicines, personal hygiene, and so on.

That morning America observes her mother Yre sitting looking through the window which faces a beautiful park where there are lush trees where America takes her to sunbathe. She sees that she is smiling, she calls her attention to her and asks: "Mom, what makes you laugh?

Yre tells him: there I see a squirrel, it runs from one side to the other, it brings back memories of a cage in the backyard of the house, do you remember, America? a round cage for the squirrel that was there to run in it. How much I would like this one in my backyard from that time when we took care of several animals and among them was the little squirrel, I loved to watch him as he ran around in his cage.

Now I watch that squirrel in the park as it runs, climbs the branches, searches here and there...I wish the squirrel in my yard was there with it, happy to come and go without any barriers, being free to roam. That's how I feel now as if I were in that cage where I say the squirrel was happy, now I feel the opposite and I am the one who feels in captivity.

America listens to her in silence, stops doing her chores and observes the panorama her mother saw. She says to her: "Ma, how many memories you treasure in your mind, because I am so busy attending to you, I don't sit down to listen to you. The squirrel you remember, I remember it too; I used to approach his cage and I tell you that several times I wanted to leave the door open so he could go out and feel free.

Yre looks at her and smiles with tears in her eyes because of all the memories that the squirrel she saw in the park through the window brought back to her, her daughter took her by the hand and stopped everything she was doing. They walked together to the park, sat on a bench next to the tree where the squirrel was running around looking everywhere enjoying his freedom.
