Hello everyone, lately I have asked myself this question a lot to which I have given many turns and answers, although without really knowing what is happening. And it is that a lot has also been commented out there, great artists have also affirmed it, in a certain way.
Let's remember that I'm talking mostly about music in English, both rock and pop.
MTV has dedicated itself, when it leaves the zone of "only Argentines", in presenting those new artists who are very complete, really. But I feel that many try to follow something that makes them the same, they do not differ from each other.
My theory is that, in addition to the fact that many years ago there was not so much demand for artists, or if there were, it was because they were extremely good and what is very important, in my opinion, in order to really differentiate themselves, have some characteristic of their own. the band or the artist, who innovates both in the music they are creating and in other ways.
And I return to the bands that I mentioned earlier as an example, Gun`s and Roses with their “Welcome to the jungle” generated controversy by releasing their video and showing their irreverence in it. In the same way, but in a more musical sense, "November Rain" made the difference with that composition so complete with so many movements as a symphony, so to speak. Not to mention Queen and their most famous piece "Bohemian Rhapsody", precisely because of this, their irreverence and great love for music prompted them to take the songs beyond a verse, chorus and chorus, much further. They were not afraid to include several languages, their own sounds created by themselves and even opera.
So I think that many factors have influenced this change and one of them is undoubtedly technology, I refuse to say today that a singer is good without first hearing him sing live, because all are improved and retouched with technology. Another, which is one of the most worrying, the market and the commercialization of music, a product of the great demand for artists, has made people stop making music out of passion and feeling, without fear of anything, but rather to limit themselves with what can be more easily sold. They have led to what a youtuber says that I admire a lot for his extensive knowledge of the music “El chombo”, the "popisalization" of rock, basically. Well, it is to make a genre without limits, one that is more widely accepted by listeners, so that it is easier to market.
Two key factors in this process.
And well, regarding the main question, having said all this, I think ...
Rock and good music will never die, as the great artists knew how to mark their mark well in the history of music and in the world, and their works will be immortalized over time. They are, as we sometimes say, the ones that never go out of style.
And although it is not the same as before, and many factors influence this, I think that, as long as there are people in the world who appreciate good music, people who like to make good music and who are not afraid to leave their mark with their touch. different, it will still be alive. Well, I know that there will always be new groups capable of making themselves known for their talent.
I hope you liked this interpretation of what is happening in the world today and remember that they are mere subjective opinions. I would love to know your opinions to see if it is not only me who believes that this is what happens in music.
I wish you are very well and have a nice day.
