Es curioso, pero ir por las calles y los caminos alrededor del pueblo, suele hacerme migrar los pensamientos por humores tan diversos como apasionantes... Supongo que a esto se debe que, de vez en cuando, decida que algunas fotografías tienen que virar al sepia.
It's funny, but walking along the streets and paths around the village, my thoughts often migrate through moods as diverse as they are passionate... I suppose this is the reason why, from time to time, I decide that some photographs have to turn sepia.

Y es que, desde mi punto de vista, el sepia entrega a la imagen un aire pictórico que le roba un poco de "foto" y le regala algo de "pintura"...
And, from my point of view, sepia gives the image a pictorial air that robs it a bit of "photo" and gives it some of "painting"...

También me parece que el tiempo se mueve de manera distinta en el sepia... El blanco y negro me sigue pareciendo más elocuente, pero me parece que el sepia hace que el momento se "retuerza" y la fotografía en pleno nos hable de pasado y nostalgias.
It also seems to me that time moves differently in sepia... I still find black and white more eloquent, but I find that sepia makes the moment "twist" and the photograph as a whole speaks to us of the past and nostalgia.

No estoy ni escribiendo ni descubriendo nada nuevo, para todos es bien sabido que la fotografía monocromática genera esa especie de impacto en la psiquis de quien la aprecia, pero hay distancias palpables en las tonalidades usadas, se trate de colores negros y marrones o inclusive de tonos verdes y rojizos que nos recuerden antiguas técnicas de revelado.
I am neither writing nor discovering anything new, it is well known that monochrome photography generates a kind of impact on the psyche of those who appreciate it, but there are palpable distances in the tonalities used, whether they are black and brown colours or even green and reddish tones that remind us of old development techniques.

Estas fotografías que hoy publico son diversas, eclécticas, no persiguen un objetivo específico en conjunto... Esta vez he seleccionado fotos muy puntuales, cuyo mensaje es propio, a veces claro y en otros casos difuso, pero en todas está reflejado el estado de animo que tenía al momento.
These photographs that I am publishing today are diverse, eclectic, they do not pursue a specific objective as a whole... This time I have selected very specific photos, whose message is their own, sometimes clear and sometimes diffuse, but all of them reflect the state of mind I was in at the time.

La fotografía al final de todo es eso: Conocernos a nosotros mismos por medio de ella, siempre lo he sostenido y así lo atestiguo en esa frase de Ralph Hattersley la cual suelo colocar al pie de mis publicaciones: "Hacemos fotografías para comprender lo que nuestras vidas significan para nosotros mismos."... Creo que al final de este ciclo mío, pediré que usen esta frase como parte de mi epitafio... je je je... :-)
Photography, at the end of the day, is just that: to know ourselves through it. I have always maintained this and I can testify to it in Ralph Hattersley's phrase, which I usually place at the foot of my publications: "We take photographs to understand what our lives mean to ourselves".... I think at the end of this cycle of mine, I will ask to use this phrase as part of my epitaph... heh heh heh.... :-)
