North Carolina Bojangles fires staff for pretending to spit in officer's order

If you are not from the South East of the USA, you probably don't know what Bojangles is. It is a fast food restaurant that I can't really understand how it isn't all over the place because it is awesome. Everything the sell there is terrible for you of course, but you don't go to fast food joints for tofu and cold-pressed vegetable juice now do ya?

Bojangles serves mostly fried chicken and biscuits and they are well-known in this part of the world for being a bit "southern" in their food prep. By the way "southern" is secret-talk for even worse for you than regular fast-food.

"Iced Tea" means a bucket of sugar water that is brown and in no way tastes like tea

Anyhoo, a report came out of Jacksonville that a uniformed female officer came through the drive-thru (that's how we spell that here) window and the staff at the window acted a bit shocked and then started to laugh and make jokes pretending to well up a bunch of spit in their mouths. Whether or not they actually spit in her food is not known but officer Jillian Wenderoth posted the incident to social media and for one reason or another it went viral.

She also claims that there was a manager present in the background that joined in their jovial attitude towards what they "planned to do to her food" before giving it to her in the drive thru window.

I know that if I was in that situation my meal would already be ruined just by thinking that it might have actually happened. Every bite that had a little too much mayo or whatever would make me believe that they in fact had done what they were joking about doing.

Bojangles responded to the incident in a manner that I believe they should have when they fired everyone that was involved. It was later discovered that the "manager" on duty wasn't actually a manager, but they were fired as well. I commend these efforts because this whole anti-police attitude is the work of idiots who have been duped by the crazy narratives that have been going on this year.

I understand not enjoying police overreach, but to go after someone in a drive thru? That's just juvenile and insane and if these employees were not teenagers, their overall attitude towards life is probably why they are still working in fast food.

One thing you need to understand about Jacksonville is that it is a very conservative part of North Carolina. It is home to one of the largest military bases in the world and there is generally a deep respect towards officers the likes of which doesn't exist in other more urban areas.

It was most likely a prank, but not a very funny one considering the times that we find ourselves in right now. The names of the employees has not been released and that makes me believe that they might have been minors and hopefully this ends up being a lesson to them.

There is a right way and a wrong way to do things and they chose the latter. I'm quite certain that Bojangles is responding so harshly because of the obvious repercussions that could occur if they did not do so seeing as how Jacksonville is predominantly conservative but an example had to be made out of these fools and the publicity is probably going to work very well for them as I'm certain the community will come together and make that the busiest Bojangles in the area.
