Unbelievable: The most audacious lie

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗

The moment I read this week's prompt, one incident just popped up in my head. I have heard a lot of lies in this my small life, but I was wondering why, of all the lies I have heard, this is the particular one that just came to mind. Probably because I was still naive and innocent at heart when I heard it and easily digested it without thinking it was a lie.

I went to a boarding school where you get to meet different kinds of people from different regions.

There was this particular girl when I was in JSS 2 (let me call her Maryam for the sake of this write-up); somehow we just bonded, and almost every Saturday she would come to my room to see me. Saturdays were actually the days that we were a bit free apart from the morning sanitations; we don't do any school activities for the rest of the day. We have Saturdays to ourselves.

So immediately after sanitation on Saturdays, Maryam would come to my room to gist with me; even when I was doing my laundry or any other stuff, she would always help out, and while doing that, she gave me a lot of beautiful gist and stories about herself and family, so this made me appreciate her company.

There was this day she came to my room with a picture of a beautiful fair lady, and when I asked who the lady was, she said it was her mom. I was shocked to see how young the woman was. I asked her if it was her elder sister or aunt, but she insisted that it was her mom.

I started asking where she got her dark complexion from, and she said it was from her dad.

She gave me stories of how beautiful her house was and that they even had a machine that, when you enter the toilet, will say welcome to the toilet, deesh deesh (I can't imagine I believed this nonsense 🤦). and how she has traveled to different places for vacations, and many lies

There was this particular dark elderly lady that usually comes to visit her during visiting days, so when I asked who that lady was, she said it was their maid that since her mom is a barrister and her dad is a journalist, they are so busy they can't make it. That's why they usually send the maid.

Until when we resumed first term, JSS 3, and some of our classmates exposed her, apparently I wasn't the only one she had told those lies, so some people that were residing in the same state with her asked for her home address and during the holiday went to pay her a visit.

They met with someone, I think, a security guard, and they introduced themselves as her friends and said they came to visit her. That was when the security man told them that that wasn't her house but her aunt's.

Apparently the people she was claiming to be her parents were her aunt and her husband, whose eldest child at that time was a two-year-old girl, while the woman she called their maid was her biological mother.

After finding out the truth, I kept wondering what motivated her to say those lies and, most importantly, why she had to lie about her mom being her maid.

I don't know if this was the biggest lie I have heard, but this is one lie I would never forget.

THANK YOU FOR READING TO THE END 🤗
