Hello my Hivelovers, the first time I read about this Community of Catharsis, I was glad that it was a space where we could drain those experiences that affect our lives, and that among them being a survivor of diseases could also be expressed.

This is what my sharing with you is about and perhaps the daily catharsis that I personally experience by not only surviving an illness but by having it present and giving signs of its stay in me every dawn.

I have been a Lupus patient for 20 years and although many say don't call or decree the disease in your life, it is also true that we cannot hide the reality and we must occupy ourselves more than worry, study about what affects us, take care of ourselves, take treatment and have the most resilient attitude we can.

But we cannot deny that chronic diseases exist, that they have no cure, that they will accompany you until you die, that they can be controlled and that your quality of life depends on it.

Lupus comes from Latin and means wolf because many times our skin lesions resemble spots seen on wolves or even wolf bites. Hence the wolf lurks.

It is a disease that affects the immune system, where antibodies attack the body itself, thus affecting joints, skin, organs, hence the systemic.

One of the things that has kept me fighting, strong, optimistic and as any warrior with firmness has been the support of the people I love, I can not say that of all my family because some members of this have disappointed me at times when lupus knocked on my door.

The beings that God has sent me in precise moments of lupus crisis to accompany me and lift me up, and the being that illuminates my mornings since he came to me as a divine gift to give me reasons to not let me get down but to continue trying to be the best I can to accompany him in his growth.

Having a chronic disease like lupus is not easy, first because it has no precise cause so it can be caused by different factors from genetic, hormonal and even environmental.

Secondly, it has a very important stress factor both in its onset and during the course of the disease, in other words, stress affects us enormously.

Lupus has different symptoms that make you want to stay lying down all day and if you wear the sun, its main contraindication, be prepared for joint pain, skin spots and something very characteristic of the disease: the butterfly wings that flutter on your cheeks by the rays of sunlight.

There are days that are stronger than others, some days when you can't get out of bed and others when you seem to have superpowers and want to do everything because of the steroids that are part of the treatment.

Also lupus patients are active beings in society, we work and exercise different roles, what many do not know or do not see is that behind a big smile we are enduring a sore body, fatigue, weakness or a low fever that accompanies us as part of its symptoms.

Lupus as a chronic disease will always be with me, rather I am blessed because in front of other testimonies I consider that to me it has not caused me so much havoc and has allowed me to achieve many goals, even when it has made me to be several times on the edge of the abyss.

Today has been one of those days where you are encouraged and motivated to move forward but somewhere the tears are about to come out because your body does not respond with the energy you would like and because many plans you want to carry out can not be done because your health conditions require more care especially in this pandemic.

I still have many sunrises and sunsets to live and I hope that these words that will not be carried away by the wind as well as they allowed me to drain one of those days of sadness that sometimes appear, have allowed you to know and understand what those of us who live with lupus, or wolf lurks, are experiencing.
