El 12 de enero del año 2010, casi a las 5:00 p.m. La isla caribeña conocida como La Española, que comparten República Dominicana y Haití, sufre uno de los más devastadores terremotos registrados por el hombre, los servicios geológicos anuncian que el sismo tuvo una magnitud superior a los 7 grados en la escala de Richter, teniendo su epicentro muy cerca de la ciudad de Puerto Príncipe, y dejando una gran devastación a nivel de infraestructura, al menos 150.000 muertos y 1,5 millones de personas afectadas.
Años después, al otro lado del mundo, un 14 de febrero del año 2013, una feliz pareja homosexual conformada por dos experimentados médicos traumatólogos, el Dr. Vincent Lafayette y Dr. Bruno Fontein celebran su boda formal en Francia. Sin embargo, no hay tiempo para una luna de miel, ellos forman parte de la reconocida organización Médicos Sin Frontera, y se han ofrecido como voluntarios para operar a las víctimas del terremoto en Haití, intentando compartir con la humanidad algo de su felicidad.
Tras su llegada al hospital de campaña instalado por los cascos azules de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, los doctores comienzan la evaluación de los casos a operar con urgencia. On January 12, 2010, at almost 5:00 pm The Caribbean island known as Hispaniola, shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti, suffered one of the most devastating earthquakes recorded by man, the geological services announced that the earthquake had a magnitude greater than 7 degrees on the Richter scale, with its epicenter very close to the city of Port-au-Prince, and leaving great devastation at the infrastructure level, at least 150,000 dead and 1.5 million people affected.
Years later, on the other side of the world, on February 14, 2013, a happy homosexual couple made up of two experienced trauma doctors, Dr. Vincent Lafayette and Dr. Bruno Fontein celebrate their formal wedding in France. However, there is no time for a honeymoon, they are part of the renowned Doctors Without Borders organization, and have volunteered to operate on the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, trying to share some of their happiness with humanity.
After he arrives at the field hospital installed by the blue helmets of the United Nations Organization, the doctors begin the evaluation of the cases to be operated on urgently. As she walks among the patients, a black woman with piercing yellow eyes grabs Dr. Vincent's hand by surprise, and tells him in perfect French, with a terrifying voice.
─You must take care of my daughter first, she is very serious, and if she dies you will pay the consequences!
Visiblemente asustado, el Dr. Vincent le responde con voz temblorosa mientras intenta soltarse.
─ Tranquila analizaremos a todos, y si su hija debe ser la primera así será.
Al terminar de evaluar los casos, los doctores deciden el orden en que se harán las operaciones, lamentablemente la hija de la extraña mujer no está no está en la lista. Su caso es muy grave y por la falta de atención a tiempo, se convirtió en algo inoperable, sus costillas se solidificaron luego de la fractura en una posición incorrecta aprisionando la arteria pulmonar, por lo que no hay nada que se pueda hacer para salvarla.
En medio de la tercera operación, la mujer negra irrumpe violentamente en el quirófano gritando maldiciones contra el Dr. Vincent en una antigua lengua africana, reclamando porque su hija había fallecido. Sin previo aviso, Madame Mencía como se le conocía a la poderosa hechicera Vudú, sopló un fino polvo blanco sobre el rostro del médico, dejándolo ciego y gritando de dolor frente a la mirada impotente de su esposo el Dr. Bruno.
Visibly scared, Dr. Vincent responds with a shaky voice as he tries to free himself.
─ Don't worry, we'll analyze everyone, and if your daughter should be the first, that's how it will be.
When they finish evaluating the cases, the doctors decide the order in which the operations will be performed, unfortunately, the daughter of the strange woman is not on the list. Her case is very serious and due to the lack of timely attention, it became inoperable, her ribs solidified after the fracture in an incorrect position, imprisoning the pulmonary artery, so there is nothing that can be done to save her.
In the middle of the third operation, the black woman violently bursts into the operating room shouting curses at Dr. Vincent in an ancient African language, claiming that her daughter had died. Without warning, Madame Mencía, as the powerful Voodoo sorceress was known, blew a fine white powder on the doctor's face, leaving him blind and screaming in pain before the helpless gaze of her husband, Dr. Bruno.
El Dr. Vincent Lafayette es atendido rápidamente por el personal del hospital, mientras la perversa mujer desaparece entre la multitud antes de que el personal de seguridad pueda apreciarla. Han pasado 7 días desde el atentado, la salud de Vincent se agrava cada vez más, mientras su abnegado esposo no puede separarse de su lado llorando constantemente. Sumergido en una profunda depresión, Bruno se sienta en una banca del hospital mirando hacia la nada, sin saber qué hacer. Al verlo, una anciana enfermera se sienta a su lado para consolarlo, y le explica que su esposo fue víctima de un hechizo Vudú. Aunque él no crea en esas cosas debe actuar de inmediato, Madame Mencía es una mujer malvada y poderosa que busca convertir a Vincent en zoombie, él fue envenenado con la neurotóxica del polvo zoombie para convertirlo en esclavo tras su muerte.
La enfermera dice que solo el amor verdadero puede frenar un hechizo tan poderoso, así que le entrega al médico una botella con una poción llamada “el hechizo de amor inmortal”. Bruno debe activar el conjuro colocando gotas de su sangre y la de Vincent, luego rezar una oración y beber ambos la pócima. Si su amor es real, entonces la muerte saldrá espantada del cuerpo enfermo de Vincent, pero si no, ambos morirán y serán reclamados como esclavos del mal por la eternidad. La prueba de amor fue superada sin ningún contratiempo, y la pareja de médicos regresó a Francia más unidos que nunca, dejando atrás aquel horror.
Dr. Vincent Lafayette is quickly tended to by hospital staff, as the wicked woman disappears into the crowd before security can see her. Seven days have passed since the attack, Vincent's health is getting worse and worse, while her devoted husband cannot leave her side crying constantly. Dr. Bruno is unable to get a medical cure for the situation, he is aware that her husband's life is slowly escaping from his body.
Submerged in a deep depression, Bruno sits on a hospital bench staring at nothing, not knowing what to do. Seeing him, an elderly nurse sits down next to him to comfort him, explaining that her husband was the victim of a Voodoo spell. Although he does not believe in these things, he must act immediately, Madame Mencía is an evil and powerful woman who seeks to turn Vincent into a zombie, he was poisoned with the neurotoxic powder of zombie to turn him into a slave after his death.
The nurse says that only true love can stop such a powerful spell, so she gives the doctor a bottle with a potion called "the spell of immortal love". Bruno must activate the spell by placing drops of his and Vincent's blood, then say a prayer and both drink the potion. If their love is real, then death will be scared out of Vincent's sick body, but if not, they will both die and be claimed as slaves of evil for eternity. The test of love was passed without any mishap, and a couple of doctors returned to France more united than ever, leaving behind that horror.
