Onboard rally video of the day - Oliver Solberg with Hyundai i20 Rally2 at WRC Acropolis Rally Greece 2021

Hi, friends!

Young Oliver Solberg had 12 outings this season and seven of them were retirements with five crashes. That is a sign that this young fellow has too much of a pressure on himself.

I know that he is ambitious, as his father Petter is, but they must be patient enough if they want to make a potential World Rally Champion of him.

He has a speed, that's for sure because he won some super fast gravel European Rally Championship rallies against very experienced opposition. He just needs experience, nothing else.

If you have a mentor in his father Petter who was 2003 World Rally Champion when there was probably toughest competition ever, then I don't see that this young guy won't have a good progress. The thing is that he is crashing too much.

He also tries too much when car doesn't deliver speed against the opposition and then he starts to overdrive which means crashes. That means too much pressure because he feels that he needs to deliver results that moment and to put that on the young man is no good.

Next season he will have a partial program with Dani Sordo in a 3rd works car and that means another step in his career. And he still doesn't have a top result in WRC or WRC2 class.

His best result in WRC this season is 7th place and for someone outside of the sport, it is questionable how this guy even took a seat from some other guys who have wins after them

I think that next season will tell us much more about Solberg jr because he will need to deliver results without waiting as a 3rd works driver in Hyundai.

Watch this onboard from Greece where he was behind a wheel of WRC2 class Hyundai i20 Rally2 with the new co-driver Craig Drew.

Enjoy...
