Waving lights in a 1000 year old monastery

Before this little virus you may or may not have heard of came along, we used to visit Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire every year where the whole place was lit up in the dark. I'm not sure how long it's going to be before we get a chance to re-visit....

Lighting up Fountains

What started off as a grey and dull sky, I was surprised to see beams of light emanating from the monastery. Here I've lowered the white balance to around 3000k for a more cool effect:

Ever get the feeling you're being watched?*

I spotted these two ancient arches and knew they would make a great frame for a pair of lightpainted orbs provided by the spinning orb master, @fadetoblack I wasn't quite prepared for how scary this pair of eyes ended up looking like!

Zoom pulling practice

Shortly after this shot we got a complaint from a woman about my "big floodlight" preventing her from getting a shot of the abbey. Unbelievable! It's a testament to the power of the LED Lenser X21r2 I was using....

Exploding heads

This was a practice shot where I inexplicably failed to line up the flashgun on the flashstand and inadvertently blew my friends head off!
