Rediscovering my camera rotation mojo

For a few years now, I've been obsessed with camera rotation photography where the camera is rotated on it's lens axis whilst shooting objects in the dark. There are various ways to rotate a camera but the lightest, most portable route is to use an indexing rotator, a gadget usually reserved for panoramic landscape photographers. It would take me a while to explain how this stuff is done but in short, during an exposure as the camera is rotated, the lens cap is replaced on the camera between various exposures of light on the camera's sensor to create an abstract, mind bending image.

This is Sheffield city skyline as seldom seen before, rotated four ways:

Tonight's trip out in the dark was a test for a new indexing rotator after I wore the old one out. This is an eight way rotation:

It's not only city skylines that lend themselves to camera rotation. This is a four way rotation in my local woods which happen to be Sherwood Forest. It was shot in the blue hour and this is still one of my favourite rotation shots:

Another of my favourite camera rotations involved changes of white balance. Here I've turned up the white balance to 8000K or so and did a simple 180 degree, 2 way rotation:

Another great subject to rotate is architecture. The wilder the architecture, the better. This is the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester's Salford Quays:

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
