My top 5 lightpainted images on Hive

I've been promising myself to create a "top 5" lightpainting selection and put it off because it turns out to be much harder than it looks! Anyways, this is my top 5 and will probably change by the end of writing this post....

Where Am Eye?

This shot won the 2017 Oviedo International Lightpainting Comp outright. I created this orginally to demonstrate the concept of lens swapping; I posted it on social media and was surprised by the reaction. I was even more surprised when it won....

Ordered Chaos

Another shot involving a mid exposure camera pan where I shot @fadetoblack stood in the middle of frame, then panned the camera across for Tim to spin steel wool sparks as I rotated the camera. It's the kind of shot where only two lightpainters with experience can achieve. I haven't seen this copied by anyone yet....

Convex Nights

This one was not particularly popular on social media but another favourite of mine. I rotated two lots of sparks dropped from on high in an abandoned factory leaving a dark space in the middle. Without ending the exposure, I swapped lenses and tripods and asked my mate to light a gelled torch for a brief time. I'd like to re-shoot this one but the location is locked down with security guards to avoid!!

HALfunction

A night stood in my kitchen in the dark with a fibre optic brush and a camera rotation device for company. Here I've freehand rotated the camera pointed at a red gelled fibre optic brush then replaced the lens cap without ending the exposure. I then removed the gel from the fibre optic light source and waited for the fibres to stop moving. I then carefully removed the lens cap for a brief period, just enough for the fibres to expose correctly and ended the exposure. These kinds of shots can lead to a dose of OCD and can take many many attempts....

If MC Escher was a light painter...

I've listed this as a top 5 but starting to realise I need a top 20, 30.... Here I've rotated the camera 180 degrees, replacing the lens cap between each rotation without ending the exposure. I love that the sparks appear to be going up not down....
