An urban explore in an abandoned explosives store!

In the heady days before I was not allowed to associate with my fellow lightpainters, we took a trip to an abandoned bomb store in North Wales. Unfortunately it's a 3 hour drive each way and if I was to attempt that now I'd probably be looking at a Covid fine of £200 or more...

Anyways, this is a set of images shot inside the bomb store, a brutalist structure before brutalism was a thing.

Inside every light painter is another light painter trying to escape...

First upload from a first class day out around a dark abandoned bomb store with a bunch of ne'er do well light painters. This is a simple shot to make; start off with the camera zoomed in, fire a flash for the silhouette then zoom out and fire again. The line up on this shot satifies my fake OCD...

Cascade

Mixing a spinning laser pointer with burning steel wool sparks:

If MC Escher was a lightpainter...

This shot was inspired by Dan Whitaker's rotation shot using torches and it would have been rude not to rotate it with burning steel wool! Shot in one photographic exposure as usual.

Purge

One of my favourite techniques in lightpainting is to swap lenses with the camera still running. Here I've shot a pre-arranged image of mine on a iPad, replaced the lens cap and swapped lenses and tripods to point at @fadetoblack All shot in one photographic exposure. Note to self: must do some more of this stuff!

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
