An evening with Liv and Sal in the dark - lightpainting on Hive

I have shot models in a studio quite a few times before and also lightpainted quite a lot more than is good for me! So what better way to spend an evening than to combine both shooting models and lightpainting. And even more, get the model to actually do the lightpainting!

Liv waves a light sabre

Liv is an award winning cheerleader and it turns out cheerleaders are quite good at waving lights!

Sal strikes a pose

The circles are provded by me with a Ball of Light tool swinging in the dark.

Liv in the smoke

Asking a model to hold on to a burning smoke pellet is probably not the best idea but Liv was unphased if not a little scared at first!

It's all a matter of timing

For these shots I was using 2nd curtain rear sync with a Godox AD200 strobe, timing Sal's swipe of the light sabre with the end of the exposure when the flash fires:

Liv again

I was impressed with Liv and her accurate swipes with the light sabre; very pleasing for someone like me with a touch of OCD...

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
