Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree ...
—1 Peter 2:24

All life, that is the basis of things, is a struggle. Doctors tell us, even inside our physical bodies, a battle for dominance is going on. A relentless war against foreign germs is being fought by the bacteria in our bloodstream. In an attempt to preserve life inside the body, the red corpuscles actively battle the white corpuscles. In the metaphysical world, a war is raging as well. "We are fighting," the Bible states, "against the rulers of this world's darkness." Darkness hates light. I have a dog who'd rather dig up a moldy rotting corpse than have the best, cleanest food to chew on. That's his nature. He can't help it. It is their nature that men can not help to react to the lewd, the salacious, and the disgusting. Until they are born again, they'll have trouble doing otherwise. And before they are changed by Christ's influence, they are likely to be in enmity with those who are connected with Christ.
