Al emigrar, las posibilidades de estar cerca de nuestra familia y amigos disminuyen un montón. La mayoría de los seres queridos se encuentran lejos y uno está muy ocupado trabajando y estabilizándose en el nuevo país, los vínculos, encuentros e interacciones sociales empiezan a ser más limitados. Corresponde, por supuesto, hacer nuevas amistades en el país escogido, pero en el fondo siempre existe un deseo de volver a crear memorias y recuerdos con las personas que nos han acompañado durante toda la vida…

When emigrating, the possibilities of being close to our family and friends decrease a lot. Most of the loved ones are far away and one is very busy working and stabilizing in the new country, the links, meetings and social interactions start to be more limited. It is, of course, appropriate to make new friends in the chosen country, but deep down there is always a desire to recreate memories and memories with people who have accompanied us throughout life ...
Esto último lo teníamos muy presente al mudarnos a un nuevo hogar, queríamos tener la posibilidad de recibir a nuestros amigos de Venezuela y familiares, así que destinamos un cuarto para múltiples funciones y entre esas la posibilidad de recibir visitas por un periodo de tiempo. El espacio lo teníamos desde hace meses, pero todavía no había una cama o un lugar donde nuestros visitantes pudieran dormir. No fue hasta que una amiga llegó de visita que nos pusimos las pilas y a correr para conseguir un colchón inflable donde ella pudiera estar cómodamente.
We had this in mind when we moved to a new home, we wanted to have the possibility to receive our friends from Venezuela and family, so we set aside a room for multiple functions and among those the possibility to receive visitors for a period of time. We had had the space for months, but there was still no bed or a place where our visitors could sleep. It wasn't until a friend of ours came to visit us that we started running to get an air mattress where she could sleep comfortably.
Visitamos varios sitios y almacenes de Colombia, Falabella, olímpica, éxito… la verdad es que las opciones de colchones inflables parecían bastante limitadas y todo apuntaba a que debíamos hacer la compra por internet. Sin embargo, llegamos a un almacén más grande de Éxito y conseguimos un par de opciones. Los colchones individuales no incluían una bomba para inflarlos, así que optamos por adquirir de una voz un colchón Queen con bomba para inflarlo y almohadas. El costo fue de 140.000 pesos, lo que equivale a 35 dólares aproximadamente. Aquí les muestro en las siguientes fotografías algunas especificaciones del colchón, por ejemplo, la medida de 1.52x2.03 metros y el grosor de 25 cm, y la marca escogida fue INTEX.
We visited several places and stores in Colombia, Falabella, olímpica, éxito... the truth is that the options of air mattresses seemed quite limited and everything pointed to the fact that we had to make the purchase online. However, we arrived at a larger Exito store and got a couple of options. The single mattresses did not include a pump to inflate them, so we opted to purchase a Queen mattress with a pump and pillows. The cost was 140,000 pesos, which is approximately 35 dollars. Here I show you in the following pictures some specifications of the mattress, for example, the size of 1.52x2.03 meters and the thickness of 25 cm, and the brand chosen was INTEX.
Para inflarlo por primera vez nos reunimos todos y así empezó el desorden en casa. Fue un momento que siempre recordaré, me dolía el estómago de tantos reírme! Es un poco cansado inflar el colchón “manualmente” con la bomba pero la verdad es que no faltaron las risas y chistes. Entre todos nos íbamos turnando hasta llenarlo por completo, aproximadamente a los 20 minutos estuvo listo y nuestra amiga Belén pudo probarlo por primera vez para dar el visto bueno :)
To inflate it for the first time we all got together and so began the mess at home. It was a moment I will always remember, my stomach hurt from laughing so much! It is a bit tiring to inflate the mattress "manually" with the pump but the truth is that there was no lack of laughter and jokes. We all took turns until it was completely filled, approximately 20 minutes later it was ready and our friend Belén was able to try it for the first time to give her approval :)
Hemos tenido en casa la visita de mi amiga y mi suegra y ambas se han sentido muy a gusto y cómodas en ese colchón. El único detalle (pero creo que esto ocurre con todos los colchones inflables) es que se transfiere el frío del suelo muy fácilmente, así qué hay que tener muchas cobijas disponibles o una calefacción de ambientes.
We have had my friend and my mother-in-law visit us at home and both have felt very comfortable on that mattress. The only downside (but I think this happens with all air mattresses) is that it transfers the cold from the floor very easily, so you have to have a lot of blankets available or a space heater.
Es una bendición poder pasar tiempo con amigos y familia, sobre todo, por todos los kilómetros que nos separan de nuestro lugar de origen. Esta compra es solo el comienzo de muchos reencuentros y momentos invaluables que atesoraremos en nuestros corazones.
It is a blessing to be able to spend time with friends and family, especially for all the miles that separate us from our place of origin. This purchase is just the beginning of many reunions and priceless moments that we will treasure in our hearts.
