Whether you are in the mood for good food or bonding with your favorite people, a scrumptious boodle fight paired with a sweet memorable feeling in midday escapes with your friends could never go wrong. Hello, everyone! How are you? It’s @nashhhh here, back again with another short escapade to share.

Boodle Fight

Boodle fight is prominent here in the Philippines. It is a Filipino tradition that includes various delicacies displayed in banana leaves. Inspired by the military tradition of eating, boodle fights bring people together and it’s all about sharing. That’s why we chose this as our way of getting together.

Our boodle food was a low-budget version that consisted of white rice, a freshly picked ‘pajo’ mango from the backyard as our dessert or appetizer, and two meals— ‘lechon manok’ (grilled chicken) which we bought on our way to the place and ‘chicken halang-halang’ (spicy chicken dish) cooked by the hostess of the lunch.

All were plated on the dahon ng saging (banana leaf), which was freshly cut from the banana tree in the backyard. We had to run it through a fire to eliminate bacteria and for a cleaner plate. After that, we arranged and served the meals.

Paired with soft drinks our lunch was already terrific. We were eight in total, so we had to come up with a fun lunch idea that did not involve the use of dishes and utensils. Although that is not the main reason why we agreed to have a boodle fight.

It was all because of the idea of the term “sharing”. It seemed like the perfect way to bond with your friends. Having a boodle fight is such a unique way of bringing a group of people together. Not only do you get to share the food, but also stories and laughter among the group.

The Stroll

With full stomachs from the delicious boodle fight we had, we strolled our way to the shore for a fresh breeze. On the way wasn’t easy, with the scorching sun and the distance. But on the positive side, the distance was enough for us to enjoy the small talk we had during the leisure walk.

Since we’re in the province, as expected, the roads were empty. People seem to enjoy indoors more than outdoors. I do too, but today was an exception.

All the sweat exerted from the heat and the exhaust during the walk paid off. The place did not disappoint when we reached it. It was a public hangout spot but since it was in the afternoon, we almost had the place all to ourselves.

The clear blue seawater was tempting but we did not bring any spare clothes for swimming, so it was not part of the plan. The beach sands were fine and white, which added to the beauty and radiance of the place.

Thankfully, there were trees in the place. We hid and sat under the shade it gave for the meantime. After we recharged our energies, the urge to tour randomly around the place prevailed.

We looked for cool spots to hang around and take pictures to pass the time. It was a massive place so we used all our time touring. We greatly enjoyed every second of the time we had.

The Gift

Before the day ended, one of them unexpectedly handed us each a gift and a letter when we were about to head on our own different ways. The letter I received was paired with a Harry Potter pen. It was the perfect gift.

As a sentimental person with a thing for vintage vibes, I was over the moon. Especially when I realized the letter was handwritten and the paper used in the letter and the pen given was the same as the one used in ancient times. The whole vibe screamed vintage, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I think the gift given marks this memorable day. The moments and time we had were memorable enough, but it is the gift that symbolizes how this day went.

A day could never go wrong with good food, good vibes, and good friends. Anyway, if you got this far reading or skimming, thank you!
