Yaldā Night (Persian: شب یلدا shab-e yalda) or Chelle Night (Persian: شب چلّه shab-e chelle) is an Iranian. festival celebrated on the winter solstice. This corresponds to the night of December 20/21 (±1) in the Gregorian calendar, and to the night between the last day of the ninth month (Azar) and the first day of the tenth month (Dey) of the Iranian solar calendar.

On Yalda night, Iranian families usually prepare and serve a sumptuous dinner together with all kinds of fruits and, most commonly, watermelon and pomegranate. In this celebration, it is common to serve snacks, family elders tell stories to other family members, and fortune-telling with Divan Hafez.
Grandfathers and grandmothers in Iran, according to a long-standing tradition, on Yalda night, prepare the home for their children and grandchildren by serving the family with local snacks and nuts.

On this night, perhaps the most vans carrying watermelons, Yalda night, can be seen in the city. In many parts of the city, vans carrying watermelons and melons can be seen, inviting people to buy them and creating a special excitement among the people of the city to celebrate Yalda Night.

I usually spend the night of Yalda together at the house of family elders.
On Yalda night last year, we set a table with watermelon, which was very beautiful.
