However, this time I am going to talk about the second point, which is "you," the one handling the smartphone camera. You are simply an amateur photographer and videographer.

Most photographers and videographers today agree on one basic fact: it is not about the device, as an optimal device is good enough, which a typical smartphone (upper midrange and flagships) is, but the person behind the camera. If you lack important camera handling skills and enough creativity, you may not be able to achieve much, even with the top gear-level of camera with all the expensive accessories installed.
Most people do not have the basic knowledge of photography and just point and shoot, hoping that the photos and videos come out fine.
Some Mistakes and Recommendations
As an amateur photographer or videographer, you could be making one or more of the following mistakes:
Your scene is ugly and too busy: There is very little to be done on post when you take photos or videos in an ugly or busy scene. If the scene is not intentional, you should freely move yourself or your subjects from it.
You are not using a stable light source: Most of the time, professionals try as much as possible to be able to control their source of lighting, but this may not be feasible for casual shooting, but there are a few things you can do. Lock your exposure if you are doing a video so that your video brightness remains stable. Generally, for photos and videos, the more light, the better, but still, always ensure that the photo is not overexposed.-
You like keeping everything in the centre: While this may not be bad in itself, it could make a photo or video look boring. So, experiment by keeping subjects off-centre and see the beauty in it. The main point here is that a photographer is a creative being, and not one who prefers to be locked into common ideas.
You are not patient enough: Good photographers and videographers are some of the most patient people on earth. They can do everything to make sure they get the best shot, and they must take a sufficient number of shots which are filtered later to obtain the best. Taking just a few shots may leave you with nothing usable at the end of the day.
You're Using Flash Incorrectly: For starters, if you need a night shot that fully represents the night, a flash may be the wrong tool to use. Good enough. Most phones have a night mode that could be utilized to brighten up a scene while maintaining its nightliness.

There are lots of minor things that you can do to step up your photography game. Basically, photography and videography require a lot more skills than simply getting the best equipment. It is little wonder that it is a very niche category that is dominated by a few creative minds.
