Mi Regalo de Cumpleaños: Una Tableta Gráfica XP-PEN DECO 01 V2

Mi cumpleaños fue el 24 de marzo y uno de mis regalos fue ésta tableta gráfica XP-PEN DECO 01 V2. Es un regalo de mi hermano menor y de mi trabajo (trabajamos juntos).

Le dije a mi hermano cuando pasó por temas laborales a la ciudad de Lima si podía comprarme éste equipo. Casualmente, conversé una y otra vez con él, que había dejado de dibujar desde hace tres años. Dibujar para mí es un asunto realmente diferente, extraño en cierto punto. Es muy agradable, me da mucha calma. Es algo que he dejado, pero lo amo profundamente.

Comencé a dibujar desde los 4 años de edad, incluso aprendí cómo poder reflejar varias realidades en un lienzo. Cuando tenía 12 años aprendí cómo usar un pincel, cómo diluir una acuarela y también sentí el olor de la trementina al disolver óleo. Mis dedos se llenaban de carboncillo, mis manos tomaban las tizas pastel y creaban cosas únicas. Así es hacer algo que te gusta, pero mantienes para ti. Aprendí a respetar el proceso de dibujar, a separarme del mundo y a crear un espacio solamente mío.

Quizás mi hermano vio mis ganas de dibujar y pintar nuevamente. Cuando te entiendes a ti mismo eres capaz de ver más allá de lo simple. Nunca he dibujado digitalmente, es un nuevo reto para mí. ¿Cómo será? No lo sé, pero al intentarlo me divertiré.

My birthday was March 24 and one of my gifts was this XP-PEN DECO 01 V2 graphics tablet. It is a gift from my younger brother and my work (we work together).

I asked my brother, when he went to Lima for work, if he could buy me this equipment. Coincidentally, I talked over and over again with him, who had stopped drawing three years ago. Drawing for me is a really different matter, strange at a certain point. It's very pleasant; it gives me a lot of calm. It's something I've given up, but I love it deeply.

I started drawing when I was 4 years old; I even learned how to be able to reflect various realities on a canvas. When I was 12 years old, I learned how to use a brush and how to dilute watercolor, and I also felt the smell of turpentine when dissolving oil. My fingers were filled with charcoal, and my hands took pastel chalk and created unique things. That's what it's like to do something you love but keep to yourself. I learned to respect the process of drawing, to separate myself from the world, and to create a space that is mine alone.

Maybe my brother saw my desire to draw and paint again. When you understand yourself, you are able to see beyond the simple. I have never drawn digitally; it's a new challenge for me. How will it be? I don't know, but by trying it I will have fun.

Entre las tabletas gráficas que quería estaba ésta y la otra era HUION. Ésta última no la consiguió mi hermano. Tuvimos que leer muy bien para poder escoger una tableta que se acoplara fácilmente a lo que voy a hacer. Es decir, que sea para principiantes.

Antes de comenzar a mostrar la tableta gráfica, quiero darle las gracias a @marybellrg por escribirme el día de mi cumpleaños. Ése día también conversé brevemente con @soy-laloreto (ambos cumplimos años el mismo día). De Hive sólo me escribieron ellas dos.

Debo ser preciso en algo: mi mejor regalo de cumpleaños fue reencontrarme con mi hermano. Desde hace 5 años no nos veíamos en persona, todo era videollamadas. Ése día simplemente lo compartí con él y mi familia. Tomé bastante, reí, comí, me cantaron una canción y canté cumpleaños (algo que no me gusta mucho, ja, ja, ja). También salí los días siguientes, aún me falta viajar (está pautado para mayo).

Among the graphics tablets I wanted was this one, and the other one was HUION. The latter, my brother didn't get. We had to read very well to be able to choose a tablet that would easily fit what I was going to do. That is to say, one that is for beginners.

Before I start showing the graphics tablet, I want to thank @marybellrg for writing to me on my birthday. That day I also chatted briefly with @soy-laloreto (we both had the same birthday). From Hive only the two of them wrote to me.

I must be precise about something: my best birthday present was to meet my brother again. We hadn't seen each other in person for 5 years; it was all video calls. That day, I simply shared it with him and my family. I drank a lot, laughed, ate, they sang me a song, and I sang birthdays (something I don't like very much, hahahaha). I also went out the following days; I still have to travel (it is scheduled for May).

La razón por la que estudie urbanismo fue porque siempre he amado el arte, el arte de crear algo nuevo. Algo que no ve todo el mundo. Creo que una de las personas que se alegrará y que ha insistido que debo dibujar es @liveofdalla. Ocurrirá, a mi tiempo y modo. Dibujar no es tan fácil. No es sólo disciplina, depende de las emociones.

Luego de una catarsis artística y tecnológica tan larga, debo escribir sobre la tableta. Es decir, el Unboxing. Mi tableta gráfica vino en una caja blanca lo suficientemente estética (incluso posee dos de mis colores favoritos: azul claro y blanco). Es una caja sencilla con una presentación minimalista; en el reverso, posee algunas descripciones e instrucciones relevantes sobre el equipo.

The reason I studied urbanism was because I have always loved art—the art of creating something new. Something that not everyone sees. I think one of the people who will be happy and who has insisted that I should draw is @liveofdalla. It will happen, in my own time and way. Drawing is not that easy. It's not just discipline; it depends on emotions.

After such a long artistic and technological catharsis, I must write about the tablet. That is, the Unboxing. My graphics tablet came in an aesthetically pleasing white box (it even has two of my favorite colors: light blue and white). It is a simple box with a minimalist presentation; on the back, it has some relevant descriptions and instructions about the equipment.

Para poder abrirla hay que deslizar la caja y sacar el estuche en el interior. Me gustó esa manera de presentación. La empresa manda un mensaje de marketing escondido: “Este es un regalo para ti”. Es lo que me imaginé al abrir el estuche.

Mi hermano abrió la caja antes en Lima para corroborar que todo estaba bien, pero como él no tiene conocimiento de esto, guardó todo en el mismo lugar. También por el viaje la caja recibió algunas rasgaduras.

Al abrir la caja que se muestra como un regalo único, lo primero que vi fue un protector de pantalla. Esto es muy bueno, ya que buscar un protector para este equipo en Venezuela sería muy complicado (tendría que viajar a la capital, es decir, Caracas).

In order to open it you have to slide the box and take out the case inside. I liked that way of presenting. The company sends a hidden marketing message: "This is a gift for you". That's what I imagined when I opened the case.

My brother opened the box before in Lima to corroborate that everything was ok, but as he has no knowledge of this, he kept everything in the same place. Also, because of the trip, the box received some tears.

Upon opening the box shown as a unique gift, the first thing I saw was a screen protector. This is very good, since looking for a protector for this equipment in Venezuela would be very complicated (I would have to travel to the capital, i.e., Caracas).

Luego de eso estaba la tableta gráfica en una bolsa que la protegía. Algo que impresiona es su tamaño, posee dimensiones de 10 x 6.25 pulgadas. Es decir, que hay suficiente espacio para dibujar con tranquilidad. Algo que me preocupaba es que mis manos son muy grandes y dibujar en un equipo pequeño sería algo poco agradable. Además, posee 8 botones.

Al sacar la tableta gráfica estaba el lápiz digital. Según sus características, éste es ergonómico y no requiere cargarse. Algo que es peculiar es que la tableta reconoce un grado de inclinación del 60% que permite un mayor grado de trazos y dibujo.

En la caja también venía un Pen Stand para colocar el lápiz digital. Esto es perfecto porque no colocaré el lápiz en cualquier parte.

After that, I put the graphics tablet in a bag that protected it. Something that impresses is its size; it has dimensions of 10 x 6.25 inches. That is, there is enough space to draw with peace of mind. Something that worries me is that my hands are very big, and drawing on a small device would be unpleasant. In addition, it has eight buttons.

When I took out the graphics tablet, there was the digital pen. According to its features, it is ergonomic and does not require charging. Something that is peculiar is that the tablet recognizes a 60% degree of inclination that allows a greater degree of strokes and drawing.

In the box also came a Pen Stand to place the digital pen. This is perfect because I won't place the pen anywhere.

Igualmente, también estaba un cable USB para conectar la tableta gráfica con mi laptop y un paquete con varias cosas.

El paquete tenía varias cosas, una de ellas era el Drawing globe que sirve como protector y permite un mejor deslizamiento de la mano en la tableta gráfica.

También estaban los remplazos de las plumillas del lápiz digital. Ocho piezas en total que servirán de remplazo por un largo tiempo (es lo que yo creo).

Also, there was also a USB cable to connect the graphics tablet to my laptop and a package with several things.

The package had several things; one of them was the Drawing globe, which serves as a protector and allows for better sliding of the hand on the graphic tablet.

There were also replacements for the stylus nibs. Eight pieces in total that will serve as replacements for a long time (that's what I think).

En el paquete además estaban tres manuales y unos adaptadores USB. Estos adaptadores, tengo entendido, son para utilizar la tableta con un teléfono. En mi caso trabajaré con mi laptop.

La tableta posee, 8192 niveles de precisión. Algo apreciable, además de que es compatible con Android, Windows 8, Windows y Windows 10 (éste último es el que yo poseo). Los programas para la instalación y la configuración del lápiz se bajan directamente de la página web de XP-PEN. No es un inconveniente hacerlo, es algo fácil.

In the package, there were also three manuals and some USB adapters. These adapters, I understand, are for using the tablet with a phone. In my case, I will work with my laptop.

The tablet has 8192 levels of accuracy. Something is appreciable, plus it is compatible with Android, Windows 8, and Windows 10 (the latter is the one I own). The programs for installation and configuration of the pen are downloaded directly from the XP-PEN website. It's not inconvenient to do so; it's easy.

Creo que me divertiré dibujando y haciendo las cosas que me gustan próximamente. Claro, todo con calma y a mi tiempo. No sé qué tanto estaré por acá, pero sé que será a mi manera. Gracias por llegar hasta aquí y su apoyo.
