In my life I have owned 3 laptops and with two of them I had the same problem, a problem that perhaps other users have also had, the heating of the equipment. The first laptop I had burned because of that, because it got too hot; the second one also had severe heating problems despite being a new computer, I think it came with a factory fault; and this third one, the new one I just bought, has worked fine so far.
Well, with the intention of minimizing the risk of heating in the equipment, I bought one of these bases with a fan to send more air to the equipment. So I would like to show you the unboxing through pictures and tell you a little bit about the temperatures.
You see, it was something I bought also online, through an online store.

En mi vida he sido dueño de 3 laptops y con dos tuve mismo problema, un problema que quizás otros usuarios también han tenido, el calentamiento del equipo. La primera laptop que tuve se quemó por eso, porque se calentaba demasiado; la segunda también tenía severos problemas de calentamiento a pesar de ser un equipo nuevo, creo que vino con alguna falla de fábrica; y esta tercera, la nueva que acabo de comprar, ha funcionado bien hasta ahora.

The equipment arrived to me well protected, in its box and without any sign of deterioration. It cost me 5$, quite economical considering it is something very generic and without too much luxury.
It is of an adequate size for my laptop, 14 inches. It has its metal base and a fan which is what will blow air into the base of my laptop. Below you can see pictures of the specs that are in the box.

Well, I opened the box and there was the base. Simple, made of a hard plastic with a metal base to place the laptop. This metal base has small holes through which the air that will launch the small fan will pass.

The base is quite wide, two small brackets can be removed to raise the base a little more, allowing more air to enter. The fan is not that big but I was quite surprised at how powerful it is, despite being relatively small.
It connects to the laptop through a USB port and, in that same port, it has a female port so you can connect something else.
La base es bastante amplia, se pueden sacar dos pequeños soportes para levantar un poco más la base, permitiéndo que entre más aire. El ventilador no es tan grande pero me sorprendió bastante la potencia que tiene, a pesar de ser relativamente pequeño.

When I connected the base to the laptop it immediately turned on the fan and the blue LED that comes with it. There is no kind of switch or anything. As long as the laptop is on, the fan will keep blowing air.
One thing I like about this dock is that it has the fan in the center, right where the vents are on my laptop.
Cuando conecté la base a la laptop se encendió de inmediato el ventilador y el LED azul que trae. No hay ninguna clase de interruptor ni nada. Mientras la laptop esté encendida, el ventilador seguirá arrojando aire.

There are other bases that had the fans located in other positions so in the end I decided for this one.
This location of the fans is something that you should take into account when choosing which base you will buy for your equipment, otherwise the air will not enter through these openings.
In the picture below you can compare where the fan is and where the ventilation openings I mentioned are.
Hay otras bases que tenían los ventilador ubicados en otras posiciones así que al final me decidí por esta.
Esta ubicación de los ventiladores es algo que deben tener muy en cuenta a la hora de elegir qué base comprarán para su equipo, sino el aire no entrará por estas aperturas.

But does it really cool the base, and does it really work? Well, yes it does, but not as much as one would expect.
To check that it was indeed achieving a correct cooling process, I ran a program to monitor the temperature of the processors.
The day was hot so the computer had a high temperature input. Below, in the image on the left, you can see the initial temperature of the processor; on the other hand, in the image on the right, you can see the temperature it reached after a few minutes of use, with several programs and applications open at the same time:
Ahora bien, ¿realmente enfría la base? ¿realmente funciona? Pues la verdad es que sí, pero no tanto como uno esperaría.
Para comprobar que en efecto estaba logrando un proceso de enfriamiento correcto, ejecuté un programa para monitorear la temperatura de los procesadores.
El día estaba caluroso así que el equipo tenía de entrada una alta temperatura. A continuación, en la imagen de la izquierda, pueden ver la temperatura inicial del procesador; por otra parte, en la imagen de la derecha, pueden ver la temperatura que alcanzó tras unos minutos de uso, con varios programas y aplicaciones abiertas al mismo tiempo:
It is totally normal that the temperature rises when using applications, the idea is to test the normal temperature that the equipment will have with its normal use.
Now, to test the cooling base I turned off the computer again, so that it would cool down, and turned it on with the base on.
This was the result:

On the left is how it started and on the right is the temperature it reached after a few minutes of use with several programs and applications running at the same time.
There was an improvement, but only a few degrees difference from the previous test.
What does this mean, is the cooler not much use, and is it not necessary to buy one?
A la izquierda está como inició y a la derecha la temperatura que alcanzó tras unos minutos de uso con varios programas y aplicaciones ejecutándose al mismo tiempo.
Hubo mejoría, pero solo unos cuantos grados de diferencia con la prueba anterior.
¿Qué quiere decir esto? ¿Acaso no sirve de mucho la base enfriadora? ¿No es necesario comprarla?
As you can see, it does cool the temperature of the computer a bit but it doesn't make much difference.
It has always been recommended that laptops should not be used on the bed or on any surface that obstructs the passage of air through the ventilation openings that the laptop has underneath (the ones I showed you in a picture above).
When these are obstructed, air simply does not circulate and the equipment cannot cool down.
These laptop cooler stands serve the function of maintaining continuous airflow when the laptop is used, for example, on a bed. It allows the computer's cooling system to continue to function normally by maintaining air access to the cooling system.
Como pueden ver, sí enfría un poco la temperatura del equipo pero no hace demasiada diferencia.
Siempre se ha recomendado que las laptops no se usen en la cama o en alguna superficie que obstaculise el paso del aire por las aperturas de ventilación que la laptop tiene abajo (las que les mostré en una foto más arriba).
Cuando estas se obstaculizan simplemente no circula el aire y el equipo no puede enfriarse.
Estas bases enfriadoras para laptops cumplen la función de mantener el flujo de aire contínuo cuando la laptop se usa, por ejemplo, en una cama. Permite que el sistema de enfriamiento del equipo continúe funcionando de manera normal, pues mantiene el acceso del aire a este sistema.
Although I do not plan to use it on the bed, but on a table, I decided to buy the base because it makes a difference. It does cool a little, not a lot, but it does have a positive effect on the temperature of the equipment and this decrease in temperature, although small, our equipment will thank us in the future.
Aunque yo no planeo usarla en la cama, sino en una mesa, decidí comprar la base porque hace una diferencia. Sí enfría un poco, no mucho, pero sí tiene un efecto positivo en la temperatura del equipo y esta disminución en la temperatura, aunque poca, nuestro equipo nos los agradecerá en un futuro.
Laptop docks are very useful and have a very specific function. They will not work any miracle if our equipment has serious overheating problems, which are usually solved with maintenance or replacement of some components; however, they will make our equipment last a little longer if its cooling system is in perfect conditions.

Las bases de laptops son muy útiles y tienen una función muy específica.
