Good day everyone, I hope you are all well!
The 1st picture in this post is a collage and there are no birds in it so don't strain your eyes looking for one. I thought that with some of the info that @nelinoeva was requesting to have included in this week's post, I'd show you the walk that we took while at a park in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. While strolling around the footpath that circled a lake we ran into some pretty cool stuff and I was happy we brought the camera.
From a good distance off I spotted a very dark shape hanging out on the path we were taking. As we got closer to the object that was in our path we realized that it was a bird, a big bird. We stopped in our tracks, not wanting to scare the bird before we could take a few pictures of it. To our surprise, the bird stayed put as we slowly walked closer and closer. Now we were able to identify the bird, it was a Turkey Vulture. I guess we got a little too close and the bird flew off.
The Turkey Vulture circled above for less than a minute before landing on the tree that was hanging over the path. It didn't seem to mind our presence even though we were within 50 feet of it.
As the bird made its way across the tree we were able to shoot one picture after the next.
After admiring the Turkey Vulture for several minutes we decided to get closer, hoping to have it take flight and get a picture of the bird in flight. It took flight and disappeared into the woods before I could get a single pic.
As we continued our walk around the lake we spotted the skeleton of a rather large fish that had been picked to the bone.
I would like the 3rd picture to be considered for the contest, Thank You.
A big thank you to @melinda010100 @barbara-orenya and @nelinoeva for this week's contest.
