Here are some of this week's sightings for this #featheredfriday
I finally got a clear shot of a brown creeper. They aren't too uncommon around here but they are small and dodgy.
Half the battle is spotting them. They are quite camouflage as they creep up the trees.
The next hurdle is trying to get a focused shot of them. They do a sort of shuffle up the tree in a robotic way.
Most of the time I catch a shot of them mid-shuffle. They will sit still for about a second then scurry about a foot up the tree to look for tiny insects in the next sector.
Now it is moving in for the kill, probably some kind of microscopic ant or something.
Tree creepers are basically the same size as a nuthatch. But they are much more shy and active.
Here is a red-bellied woodpecker. You can see its red belly as it feeds a baby in a tree hollow.
I tried squeeking at it hoping to get it to look at the camera. Instead it just flew away.
Everywhere you look there are robins hanging around. I use these guys as camera setting testers.
As my wife was driving in the car I noticed a redtail hawk land in a tree. I did my best at sniping the shot. Sadly traffic was too busy to get out for a clearer shot. Even in the car you can see it is skeptical of me with the camera. Odds are if I had gotten out it would have flown off instantly anyway.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
