š¦ The common tern (Sterna hirundo)
š Sterna stearn, starn (Old English) tern
š hirundo (Latin) swallow
These graceful birds with sharp forms live on the river near the city. With cries, they fly along the entire river and look out for fish.
Seeing the prey, they stop in one place, often flapping their wings, hover.
And then they abruptly dive under the water for prey.
Birds settle in large colonies, but I have never seen them, apparently it is somewhere very far outside the city, and on some shallows or islands in the middle of the river.
