🦉 The Siberian long-tailed rosefinch (Carpodacus sibiricus)
📚 Carpodacus Greek: karpos fruit, daknō to bite
📚 sibiricus (lat.) Siberian
This is very strange, but I just discovered that someone added "Siberian" to the name of this bird on Wikipedia. Previously, this bird was simply called the Long-tailed Rosefinch. Also has a synonym - long-tailed bullfinch.
I met this beautiful male in the bushes near the river, it was in autumn. In general, the bird is quite rare. The male flew from one bush to another.
Actually such places (shrubs near the water) are their habitat. But in autumn these birds roam
And the most amazing thing is that these birds use rivers and railroads as landmarks. The very first time I saw these birds, it was in a field near the railroad tracks.
Young birds do not look very beautiful, well, you can see it in these photos. I met this young rosefinch on the coast.
