🦉 The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)
📚 fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
📚 caelebs coelebs (lat.) - single, idle, unmarried
I met this pair of chaffinches in July. Then fluff flew from the poplars, and there was a lot of it, as you can see in the photo.
The female and her baby jumped along the path and ate poplar seeds. The female ate herself, thereby showing the fledgling how to do it. But the fledgling did not really want to learn and therefore constantly demanded to be fed. The female still fed him sometimes, but demonstratively showed him how to eat on her own.
