We had some freezing rain and snow that coated the trees. I imagine a lot of the food of the birds were coated too for after the weather cleared flocks of birds were coming into the feeder which I keep well stocked with sunflower seeds.
The forest was alive with the calls of the birds, calling for all their mates to come join the feast! Have a listen...
Now let's have a closer look at the different birds. In the video above you hear the call of the evening grosbeaks and in the back ground is the sound of the bluejay who can be seen in the image below -

Hear the cute call of that female grosbeak in the video below...
The grosbeaks liked to be in the maple trees where there was still some seeds left for them to eat but they also were seen in the spruce trees too.

There were a few of the lovely red pine grosbeaks but nowhere near the number as the evening grosbeaks.

The beautiful red of the males sure added some color to the white of the snow.

Now the ones that there were plentiful were the cheerful chickadees. I recorded a flock of them chirping and flitting around the bushes below the close up image of the black capped chickadee...

And the last photo I have to share with you is from when the sun came out and it highlighted the ice that coated the poplar trees by the maples where the grosbeaks were sitting.
