Wednesday Walk - Fur Buddies, Feathered Friends and Nature's Artwork...

We're enjoying the milder Spring air that is finally come our way and that means my fur buddies Bruno and JJ are out enjoying it with me.

Other fur buddies who were hanging around the house a lot were the squirrels. They kept Bruno busy when he was patrolling his yard. They didn't seem too afraid of me so I got some good pictures.

The feathered friends that were hanging around our house were a pair of downy woodpeckers who must be nesting around here for they are here almost daily. They would come to the feeder and when we got too close they would head up into the trees - these two seemed to want to hide behind the tree trunks waiting for us to leave but I did manage to catch a few good shots.

Up in the skies there were quite a few ravens who seemed to be pairing up going into their mating rituals.

There are still quite a few redpolls around and they wait up in the tree tops for their turn at the feeder.

I had been wondering where the geese had been hanging out when the usual places they came to were still under a couple of feet of snow. They return to the place they were born and they soon start nesting. On our walk today I found them under the evergreen trees where the snow wasn't as deep and they were sheltered from the winds. The farmer had been feeding the cattle not to far away so they would have had a food source. I was happy to see them.

Mother Nature had been creating some artwork with the melting snow water and the freezing nights leaving patterns in the ice. I'm fascinated by the different patterns!
