We had a good soaker rain which I was happy to see for I'd gotten most of my planting done in the garden and I love to have Mother Nature do the watering!
This lushened things up and bought out all sorts of birds and bugs, even the horses were out enjoying the fresh green grass.

We had a hot spell then the rains came along which must have been perfect conditions for the dragonflies to hatch for there sure were plenty of them! Most of them were flying around but a few were looking for sunny spots on the gravel road to sun themselves.
Here's a couple of the ones sunning themselves then I took a video of some in flight.

One of the most spectacular things was the cranes. I had been hearing them, then a couple of them flew in low over the field calling as they flew. You can hear their call in the video below

There was lots of blackbirds too. There was the redwinged blackbird and the yellowheaded blackbird. They have such a pretty call. I didn't catch their calls but I did catch the plain blackbird calling which you can hear in the video below.

Our neighbor who is a farmer, had bought in a bunch of strawbales to his field. These were attracting the birds for there was lots of fallen seeds.

There was lots of swallows swooping around. Some had lit on the wire then a big woodpecker came and attached to the side of the pole. I didn't get the greatest of picture for he was more on the backside of the pole

They only stayed on the wire for a bit then off they flew...

In the field where the cows were grazing there was a flock of geese grazing too.

On the pond up the road there was a variety of ducks nesting there with a few pairs out swimming.

It is funny if you just speed along you miss a lot of the bird and bug life but if you stop and look around this area was teaming with bird and bug life which I sure enjoyed and I hope you enjoyed what I shared too!
