It is one of the most peculiar birds of the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. They form groups of up to twelve individuals, led by a female. They bustle through the branches with an impressive repertoire of songs. Their calls can serve as a warning to other animals in the presence of predators. In fact, they are usually very territorial, they have been observed attacking hawks, monkeys and even people.

They are extremely confident and intelligent, which is why they often take advantage of the carelessness of vacationers to steal food and other objects.

During the mating season, the males usually have fights of great intensity, where they cling between the legs while they peck the body causing serious injuries, these duels can last several minutes, even falling to the ground without letting go, sometimes ignoring the proximity of some predator.

Es un de las aves más peculiares de la costa pacífica note de Costa Rica. Forman grupos de hasta doce individuos, liderados por una hembra. Se desplazan de forma bulliciosa entre las ramas con un repertorio impresionante de cantos. Sus llamados pueden servir de advertencia a otros animales ante la presencia de depredadores. De hecho, suelen ser muy territoriales, se les ha observado atacando halcones, monos e incluso personas.

Son extremadamente confiados e inteligentes, por lo que suelen aprovechar el descuido de vacacionistas para robar comida y otros objetos.

Durante la época de apareamiento, los macho suelen tener peleas de gran intensidad, donde se aferran entre las patas mientas se picotean el cuerpo produciendo graves heridas, estos duelos pueden durar varios minutos, incluso cayendo al suelo sin soltarse, ignorando a veces la cercanía de algún depredador.
