She lost all of her babies.

It was expected as the same thing happened last year. A bumper post 20 photos.

A sad picture and Harry was pacifying the sorrowful Sally by saying; Don't worry babe we will simply try again.

Sally lost two sets of babies last year and she on average has 12 babies per batch. Thankfully we never see the predators that attack her babies, but 24 babies to be lost in a season must certainly be a big loss for her. Now I know that this is simply nature's way of controlling the bird populations and of feeding the babies of the predators, but the human side of me feels sorry for Sally.
As I said above, we expected them back soon with no babies and here I will show you Sally's eating routine in our garden.

Now Harry is a gentleman and he always allows Sally to come down first to eat.

She is a dainty lady and landed here on the bottom parapet of the roof.

Her aim is the bird bath for her 3rd landing.

A perfect landing and you can see that she does this often.

Then she finally popped down to the food.

After eating it was bath time.

And then back up to the roof.

A perfect landing on the roof wall once again.

Now our warrior Harry has a much simpler procedure.

Like all guys he takes a simple way by walking down the roof instead of flying like Sally did.

Then he launches himself.

And with a bang he is at the food.
151.JPG

No bathing for our Harry, as he simply flies from the food back up to the roof.

Then jumped up next to his beloved wife.

And now they were waiting for the sun to set so that they can retire for the day.

An interesting thing is that two years ago 3 of their children survived and they stayed here when harry and sally left after the breeding season.
Upon harry and sally's return the next breeding season Harry had to fight with all 3 of the children to claim his territory back.
They were fierce fights and both Harry and Sally were injured, as they were both limping around here.

So maybe that's why they decided to have the babies elsewhere in case the same thing happened again. Amazingly there were also no fights with the crows for the last two seasons and only the occasional scrap with a low flying Gymnogene or some other raptor birds.
It is amazing to see how Mother nature regulates her residents with common sense and that is so difficult for humans to understand.

I apologize for the long post, but I wanted to show the full context and to spilt this into a part 1 and part 2 will not have he same effect.
Hope that you enjoyed the story.

And That's All Friends.
