A Spring Sunday walk on a farm!

A Bles buck or Bonte buck having a Sunday siesta!

We are surrounded by history here in the Western Cape Province and we visited one of the historic farms today in search of the grave of one of the original owners.
It is a huge farm, some 3000 plus hectares and it was much bigger in it's early years.

A distant view of one of the many cattle stations!

Now how is this above for a picture to warm the heart, as there are daisies all over the place.

Ah! We found the grave of Harry Kerr. Governor van der Stel established the farm and when he was recalled to the Netherlands, this Irish man Harry Kerr bought the farm where he, his wife and their eight children lived.

As you can see here Harry Kerr died in 1905, but I don't know the story of the month old twins David and Mary that were "interred" (buried) in a place called Mowbray.

The grave is situated among old oak trees and the capstone shows a peaceful dove motif.

Looked like this little calf said a sad farewell to us as we left the farm!

I have posted about the "Vergelegen" meaning "Far away" farm in the past and the new story today here will be followed up on if I am successful to get the permission to go and film the latest addition to the farm.
They have received 5 Eland bucks and will make an effort to re establish the huge bucks over here again. My aim is to get photos of the bucks that were placed in quarantine in a distant camp.

And That's All Folks!

I leave you with this:
