A show of nectar lovers.

Sunbirds, songbirds and sugarbirds youngsters are all over the place.

We are now deep into the spring season and the colorful birds are surrounded by the beauty of nature. The birds will reach adulthood soon so that they can endure the challenges of winter that will arrive after the coming summer season.
Wonderful always to see how Mother nature's timing works, as the young birds will have enough strength to cope as adults with winter.
Let's have a look at them.

First up is my beloved Malachite Sunbird and soon he will be all green with some yellow spots on his shoulders.

Oh yes, he was watching me, but I gave him my friendliest smile.

Here below we have two photos of a male, Southern Double-collared sunbird. He was busy on that lovely sun colored bush.

And here was his wife, but she prefers the Bottle-brush bush's red flowers.

Finally, we have a Cape Sugarbird doing his thing in another place sitting on the yellow Protea Pincushion flowers.

Hey brudda, can you cut me some slack with that camera, a man has to eat you know.

Amazing birds, all of them, and they are great pollinators. Several Protea flower species grow wild on the hills near the mountains and it is due partly to the pollination of these birds. Oh, of course, there are also many other pollinators such as the bee varieties, and other insects. So, the birds grow their own food by pollinating, the insects also pollinate for the birds to eat, and the birds also eat the insects. A perfect eco-system in nature, as the nectar eating birds also eat insects, to control their populations.

Sadly mankind's actions place the bird's eco-system in danger due to the destruction of the birds habitation and look at this.

State of the world's birds 2022.
Nearly half of the world's bird species are now in decline, with only 6% having increasing populations. 1 in 8 species are now threatened with extinction.
