Viakhir - forest dweller

Vyakhiri are similar in appearance to urban pigeons. However, they cannot be found together in cities. These birds live exclusively in forests and large parks. Their special difference is the sounds that they make similar to the hooting of an owl.

In addition, these pigeons are larger than ordinary pigeons. The color of their feathers is more iridescent and often shimmers in different colors. They build their nests in trees, while ordinary pigeons build their nests in the attics of houses.

However, they live apart from ordinary pigeons. I have never seen pigeons that would be in flocks of ordinary pigeons. They were always located in the distance where there were many trees.

They are not very shy. Sometimes you can get pretty close to them. If you stand still, wood pigeons can approach a short distance.
Often they can be seen in forest glades among the grass growing there.

As a rule, they walk in the clearings in pairs. If you leave food for them in the glades, then they fly back in the hope of finding food for themselves there. So they can be gradually accustomed to one place that they will visit more often.
